Hello all. I'm new to this forum. A couple months ago I bought a nice used 240da. Now it's time to put it away for the winter(bummer) It will be stored in a heated garage and has only been used in fresh water. Should I just change the oil and call it good? I'm pretty new to this boating thing.

How reliable is your electrical power in your neck of the woods. A good ice or snow storm could take out the your heat .Three gallons or so of marine grade anti freeze will protect your motor from freezing plus it has rust inhibitors and also conditioner for all your seals and rubber parts so there are more benefits then just freeze prevention.

change the oil, gear lube, and pull the drain plugs on the motor....good to go

What sea hare said... plus, most 240's have a fresh water system. You need to drain that and put a couple of gallons of pink in the fresh water holding tank and run all faucets till the pink comes out. Alternatively, you use an air compressor and blow all water lines out.

Heated or not, I wouldn't take the chance.
