This is a post discribing how I winterize a typical boat out of the water.(Inboard engine)
1) Remove 2 drain plugs, 1 in each side of block. ALL engines have them. Sometimes there is a hose going between them, remove 1 end and it will drain both sides.
2) Remove drain plug in back, bottom of each exhaust manifold. ALL engines have them. Sometimes a hose my be in that position, remove that end of hose.
3) Remove large hose end attached to thermostat housing.
4) Remove intake hose end from through hull.
5) Start engine and rev 3 times. Shut off engine.
6) Reinstall all plugs, and hose EXCEPT large hose at thermostat housing.
7) Pour 2 gallon blue -100 antifreeze directly into large hose and reinstall hose end.
8) Have 10 oz's of Rislone engine oil additive ready for this step. Start engine and pour 2 gallons blue -100 antifreeze through intake hose or into sea strainer(with vale shut off).
9) As you run out of antifreeze throttle up and pour the fogging oil dirrectly into intake carb. or plenum. and shut off engine. You are done.
OUTDRIVE engine
1) Follow steps 1 through 3.
2) Remove 2 smaller hoses from thermostat housing that lead to each manifold.
3) Remove intake hose from thermostat housing.
4) Start and rev engine 3 times, shut off.
5) Reinstall all plugs or hose ends down low that were removed for draining.
6) Pour 2 gallon -100 blue antifreeze into large hose going to recirc. pump.
7) Pour 1 gallon into each of the smaller hoses leading to the bottom of the manifolds.(you will hear it run out the back).
8) Pour the remaining gallon through the intake hose. This will go down slowly as the antifreeze pushes the water out of the system backward through the water pump and out the outdrive.
9) Reinstall all hoses
10) Start engine and fog as discribed above.

This will work for ALL engines made by GM. Do not use this on a Ford engine.

If the engine is closed cooled DO NOT pull plugs as the anti freeze will run out. All that is needed is to drain the heat exchanger and sea strainer(if equiped). Turn off sea cock, start engine and por 2 gallons of the -100 into starianer and fog engine as the last gallon goes in. Simple as that.

Brad,
My Mercruiser manual says to fog using the following recipe of: 5 gal of gas, 5 oz fuel system treatment and stablizer, 2 qts of Premium 2 cycle TC-W3 outboard oil. They call it a fogging mixture.

Procedure: Use a mixture of Gas, Fue Stabilzer and 2 cycle outboard oil. Run the engine for 10-15 minutes the stop.

I'm assuming the 2 cycle oil will coat the linings of the cylinder walls.
you probably wouldn't have to make this much as you have to run the engine at 1300 rpm for 5 minutes.

Do you have any comments on these directions? How would you connect the fuel mixture to the fuel line/system?

Well I'm not going to tell you your dealer is wrong. What they do is put out literature that the largest idiot on earth can follow and not come back and sue them. ALL the steps and hoops they say to jump through are not entirely necessary if a person has any mechanical ability or is being given good advise(as you are). I pour the Rislone directly into the intake, have for 27 years and have never a bit of difficulty. I can plug my computer into any engine I fog and there will be no Trouble codes set or malfuntioning sensers.

Brad,
I dont' know if the last comment was directed toward me, but I look at the fogging directions that the manual gives me and they seem easier for me to do that your recommendation. Not doubting you .....just easier. I have an 2 cycle so I have the tank and the oil.

My question was do you know were I can connect into the fuel line? If that is easy to do, the Merc recommended process would be easier for me!
