Has anyone winterized your water system with air pressure and how is the best way to go about it ?

What I was wondering, can you hook up air to the dock side water intake and open everything up and charge the system with air ? Will that clear everything out ?

@B BARKER yes, you can do that. I set the air compressor pressure to 40-45 psig. You need to make several passes through all of your faucets. Does it clear everything out? Hard to say. I follow up with some antifreeze in the freshwater tank to just be sure. I also leave the faucets open over the winter.

I have a bypass kit installed on the water heater. I open the drain and the TP valve and leave it open all winter.

I do. Like @Jaybeaux I use approximately 40-45 psi and make several passes. Starting from the furthest point. I don't use the antifreeze in the water tank but I do drain the line going to my water pump and I make sure the water manifold is empty. Don't forget anchor wash down, transom shower, windshield washers and the hose tap in the engine room.

I prefer to remove the water with air pressure instead of filling all the lines and tanks with pink. Using 35 psi connected to the municipal water connection (with the potable water tank disconnected form the pump and drained) just start turning on the water connections one at a time until mostly air comes out. After the pump cycles to repressurize and stops, repeat the process at all water points until it seems that all the water is out. There will always be some water remaining, but with air on either side of the water there is somewhere for freezing water in which to expand instead of splitting a line. One last thing to do is open the drain valve on the hot water tank to ensure that it is mostly drained. Air doesn't expand when it freezes!

I have done this on my camper for 30 years, and also use it on my boat. I made a bypass for the water heater….
