The windshield vent suddenly will not open. When I press the rocker for open, there is no sound; when pressed for closing (which it already is), I can hear it try to close. I am not sure if it is the motor/solenoid, or rocker switch on dash. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Take the cover off and check the connections. Also spray the actuator arm with Liquid Wrench or something similar. If that doesn't work time to get a new acuator from Tomson Linear Acuators.

MikeBravo - I took off the cover and sprayed the shaft but there was no change. I also pulled out the breaker on the dash; not sure if that is the problem. I suppose the actuator could stop working in only one direction.

Check the voltage at the actuator. When you press the switch, the voltage should be 12VDC in one direction and -12VDC in the other. If you do not have 12V, then the problem is in the switch or wiring. THe chances are that you will have voltage at the actuator and the problem is that the actuator's internal limit switches are stuck or the actuator ram is stuck or is just bad.

You may free the actuator by applying some light oil to the ram then gently applying pressure.....be careful; the glass vent is easy to break..... as someone moves the switch, but once the linear actuator begins to stick, they usually keep sticking until you give up and replace them.

The vent window on my 340 would sometimes get stuck. I found that if I gently wiggled it, it would work fine.

Have someone gently push when you are hitting the button to open.

Mine sticks every once in a while.
Thanks to all for the good input. I will try the various suggestions tomorrow, since we are rained out here in Detroit area today.

Thanks,
Frank

Frank - same issue with my brother in laws boat. Replaced the actuator. Found one for $39.59 If the file I uploaded didn't work. I got it on Ebay (new) from demotorperformance. Qty: 1 Item name Shipping service Item price 1 2"-12" Inch Black Linear Actuator Stroke 225 Pound Max Lift Output 12V Volt DC (152671861711) FedEx Ground or FedEx Home Delivery Item price: $39.59 Fit and worked perfect.

Frank - ended up replacing the actuator; it freed up, but would stick intermittently. Thanks for the information
