The actuator for the windshield vent on my 1998, 290 has stopped working. I removed it and the problem seems to be with one of the internal limit switches. If I screw the rod out about a 1/4 inch, it will extend and retract fine. I went to the Werner Electric website and found a cutaway diagram of the current model actuator which showed retraction and extension limit switches internal to the unit. My question is, has anyone ever taken one of these units apart? Is it even possible to fix or replace an internal part such as a limit switch? I was thinking of just cutting the wires and bypassing the switches, but if I didn't let up on the switch fast enough, I'm afraid the torque would damage the gears and then the unit would be useless (or more useless than it is now) or bend the mountings.
