Firstly, I'm not a mechanic but I am pretty handy and willing to take on projects myself.

Thanks for taking a look at my question. I have a 2005 340da. When I bought it last July the windshield vent open button would only work intermittently, but now wont work at all. I thought it would probably be a bad actuator (and it still may be), but what I realized in doing some problem solving is that the relay under the helm clicks whenever you press one of the buttons on the EIM (including the vent close button), but not when I press the vent open button. Seems to me like the vent open button is not working. If that is the case, is it possible to replace/repair a single button on the EIM?
Your thoughts on this are highly appreciated.

I would test the actuator and connector first. It's a pretty simply device just apply power and reverse +/- to go in reverse. Test the connector to see if your getting 12VDC when pressed and -12VDC when reversed.

These actuators and connectors tend to be the issue.
