Need to remove the windshield on my 83 270 Sundancer. Anyone have any experience with this? Can the 4 section come off separately.

Also does anyone know if the gasket parts are still available for these windshields. The outside rubber is starting to pull away from the corners.

ANy help is appreciated

Randy

Hi Randy,
I removed my windshield a few years ago to re-powder coat the frame. I don't think you will have much luck in finding new rubber seals for them but it is worth giving TaylorMade a call before you commence with the disassembly. My windshield frame broke down into 28 separate pieces excluding fasteners, so it is possible to break them down. I think the biggest question is how much corrosion exists at the joints.
I re-used my old rubber seals & sprayed silicone on them as I reassembled the frame. It was a bit of an arduous task but, with the skilled help of my buddy it wasn't too bad.
Good luck with it!

What did the damage run you on the windshield parts? Ballpark is fine. Just trying to get a feel for what I'm in for.

Don't remember exactly off hand. 3 bucks a foot I think is about right. some were less. taylor charges a $25 fee for every order so try and get everything all at once. Your dealer wont have the part numbers so you will have to give them the part numbers. Shoot me a pic of the windows. I'll see if its the same. If it looks the same, I'll get you some part numbers.

Hi, I need to replace my windshield rubber seals, 1987 Sundancer, do you have the part numbers for that model also? I am going to rework my side cabin windows at the same time. I have a dealer who can order them here for me. but like you say, it is better to order them all at once

That's very interesting because they no longer had the rubber trim for the power vent window on my 1997 330DA. That part was slightly damaged in the removal process. Is your trim a standard style that comes in one length that you cut & install? My rubber seals are all custom made for each section with two large curved windows in each side which could be why mine are no longer available.

Tried uploading sideview. My windshield is basically 4 sections. 2 in the front and 1 on each side. all flat glass no curves.

Looks like my 86. I'll work on those part numbers

That's my winter project
. That and sanding off the Green paint from the cockpit area.

Hi,

I also have a 1986 268DA Sundancer in the UK and would like to replace the seals on both the main windscreen (4 sections) and also the side windows. I would really appreciate any help in locating a supplier as there is no-one in the UK that can help. I also need to replace the weep hole covers as some are broken. Are these still available?

Many thanks
Richard

yes you can buy the weep hole covers on ebay. I will try and get the part numbers for the rubber parts posted today

These are numbers I used on my 1986 270DA Please check with your dealer. Not responsible for wrong part numbers.
remember that none of the rubber stripping actually seal the windows. They are sealed in by silicone and butyl tape. The rubber is just trim.

Side cabin windows.

3507040 Flocking (fuzzy stuff)
8338940 Interior rubber trim
8338990 exterior screw cover

Windshield

8337920 Rubber trim around exterior of windshield
8233230 Wire cover, inside of windshield
8338920 Plastic screw cover, base of windshield
8229900 Vent window hinge cover

I used a product called BED IT to install the side cabin windows to the frame.
I bought all this in the last few month so it is still available

That's great - many thanks.

I deal with Taylormade on windshield parts. They were/are OEM for many manufacturers. They have good stock on many profiles and generally have pretty quick shipping. I may be able to help you get them.

Hi Busterman,

That is very kind of you. What do you need from me to get an order in? Am I right in thinking that all 268DA's had their screens/windows made by Taylor Made? If that is the case I assume that Taylor Made would know the quantity required for the various rubber seals, trim, covers etc. and also the correct profiles.

I can't get to my boat at the moment as I am in Dubai and the boat is in the UK.

Many thanks for your help - I really appreciate it.

Richard
