Calling all Skippers!
I’ve got another dragon to slay …. And looking for experienced skippers who’ve faced the same demon as I’m up against. Sea Ray CSR has sent me to Taylor Made and I’m waiting for their response. Anyone have experience with dealing with them?
Now to the problem
First, I'm experiencing a shrinking of the length of the round black screw cover trim molding used on the exterior of the stainless extrusions which provide the mounting channels for the glass windscreen. This trim is shrinking at the ends and is becoming pronounced in some cases over an inch of open channel is now showing on each end, the problem is universal on every such piece of trim molding used on the windscreen. See Picture Below:
Then the second issue is which has been progressively getting worse and deals with the windscreen on the helm side of the boat.
I'd seen this issue on other 460’s I considered and decided to purchase this boat (Oct 2004) in part because it didn't have evidence of this problem at that time. What appears to be happening is the entire windscreen assembly is rotating down and forward at the base of the stainless track. This is causing the top to detent at the center join and the window is separating away from the gasket seal at the bottom. Here are pictures of the developing problem.
I'd appreciate any thoughts and experiences especially in delaing with Taylor's CSR, naturally I'm wanting to get them on the case financially irrespective of their one year guarantee.
