Does any one do regular service on their windless anchor motor and related gears and bearing? If yes what do you do?

I know good services thier brand ,they have package deals for services that include repair or refurbishing the gears ,motor oil etc. not cheap though .also they have a rebuilt exchange type of deal.I need to have the cord replaced on my motor i think i will seek outside service for that though.

Manufactured by LOFEAN Model LW792XDC. It has 225 feet of 5/16" chain. Looking to see if any one has had internal parts serviced like motor, gears, clutch and bearings. Ours works fine but I feel it is time for some sort of service. I had both starter motors rebuilt and they turn the 454s over a lot faster. I assume the windless motor needs a rebuild. Have no idea how to take the entire assmbly off the boat, what to service or where to get it surviced. Any help would be appreciated.

The parts manual for your boat lists 3 different windlasses for your boat. The Lofrans one is listed as being an Airon. I found nothing on the model # you posted.

The manual for the Lofrans Airon has maintenance information on page 4. Standard stuff, really. Clean, disassemble and lube every so often, check for oil leaks (gotta love them Italian manuals "it is available a complete set of seals"), and check the motor brushes ocassionally, which appear to be replacable.

Thank you for the information. I have been surching on the net and have found pictures of mine with prices but no manuals.

If the windlass is a Lofrans brand, best source of info is from Imtra (Imtra.com). They are the US importer/distributor of LoFrans. Give them a call. They have excellent customer service and will fix you up in no time.

I agree 100% with Henry. Imtra does have great customer service. My clutch nut broke and they replaced it free even though it was past it's warranty. Give them a call.

You can find all of the manuals and information for your windlass at http://www.imtra.com/downloads.htm.

Select "Anchoring Systems" then "Lofrans" in the 1st two search boxes. The next box will let you pick which manual or diagram to download.

Thanks for the link Skibum.

I'll second Henry's comment about their customer service. My tension finger was plastic and it broke when my boat was 4 year's old...they replaced it free with the improved design SS tension finger - free...
