Let out all the line on my wimdless while on the hook. Something tripped and low all I have is the selenoid clicking in the engineroom on the port bulkhead. Checked all fuses n breakers everything looks fine. What am I missing? Thanks for any advise

Open your anchor locker and stick your head in there. Look for the motor. There are two small (12g or so) wires that are the control for up and down. On my 290da I think they were wire number 155 and 154. If one of those wires fell off, or was pulled off by letting all the line out you would have this exact problem.

Does you windlass work in either direction?

Do you have foot switches on the foredeck?

There have been multiple postings on this topic. I have done a number with photos that cover many of the issues you may be facing. Try an advanced search using windlass and my user name. There is also substantial discussion on the 280 windlass in the official 280 sundancer thread.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I have foot controls on the bow. No the windless doesn't move. At first the solenoid would clik at the motor of windless now the solenoid at the windless doesnt click but the one in the engineroom does. All wires are attached under the windless. I will try the advace search as posted above and read up on the issue. Thanks for responding !

I'm out of ideas then.

If the power is on, and neither the helm control or the deck switches work, it sounds like you may have bigger problems.

The next thing I would do is get out a volt meter and have someone activate the controls while you check for voltage at the motor.

That would tell me if its a mechanical failure of the motor, or a control wiring problem.

If the motor was locked up I would expect you to be popping breakers though.

Im guessing that for some reason your motor isn't getting power.

There is a small pancake fuse in the the anchor locker and there is a high amp breaker forward of the batteries. Both tripped on mine when it didn't work.
