hello fellow boaters.
I have a sea ray sedan bridge 1996 gas. love that boat ,that boat had an anchor with rope only ,I am thinking of adding a few feet of chain ,I am in san diego rope alone wont work as good
any suggestions ,do I need to replace the whole set up or not looking for help thank you

You probably have a Good windlass. I had one on my previous boat. Bought a few feet of 5/16" galvanized chain at West Marina and shackled it in. Worked very well.

Any decent chandlery can splice in the new chain to your existing rode. I think the standard recommendation is to add a minimum of 1 boat length worth of chain.

That windlass will not accept chain - which is why it has to stop at the deck pass-through. What this does is help keep the angle of the shank down a bit more than just rope would. Still need quite a bit of scope.
