Windlass Problem

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with my Windlass, hopefully someone may be able to help.

A bit of background. The Windlass is the standard Loefrons Marlin windlass that's fitted to my 2003 280DA.

The problem. I press the windlass button at the helm and the green light doesn't illuminate. I've checked, what I think, is the obvious. The main breaker for the windlass, the 40Amp breaker, which has not tripped. I've also checked the 5amp fuse that sits in what looks like a relay or solenoid that's positioned in the bilge fastened to the port side. The fuses are fine.

It seems to me that the problem is electrical but I can't think of anything else to check.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Ian.

Thanks for the reply!

I did notice this post but noticed it was slightly different to my situation in that my solenoid doesn't get energised or the green light at the helm doesn't come on.

Regardless, it's given me some ideas on how to check the solenoid.

Ian.

Good luck,

I'm replacing the electric motor in mine this weekend, any tips, looks like a simple job but the work area sure is tight :smt013

Did you ever figure it out? We also own a 2003 280 (new to us this year) and are having exactly the same problem....no green light at helm and windlass will not go up or down with clicking in bilge. Any info you learned would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi I had the same problem with my 2003 280 and the problem was the pad with the push buttons on it. They don't make the pad anymore but the one that supersedes it has a black bezel that can be replaced with your wood grain one by removing the three screws in the back covered in silicone .
