Will Alpha 1 bolt into MR-1 Gimble?

I have an interesting question. My brother came across an '82 model 24' Sea Ray Cuddy with a 260 Merc on an old original pre-Alpha MR-1 drive. We have access to a Series -2 Alpha -1 on the cheap.

Will the Alpha-1 Series -2 bolt up to the original MR-1 gimbal with no modification ?:huh:

Thought some of you MerCruiser experts might have an answer on this one. I'm an old school MerCruiser guy but I'm not sure on this one.
