Will acetone hurt the bow rail?

Previous owner has some sort of hard goo on the railings I have been trying to get off with goo gone with little affect. It's also on the shore power cord.

Wondering if the acetone will affect the metal rail or if some one has a better I idea?

acetone will not hurt metal
I would avoid getting any on the glass due to possible delamination

Acetone is good on some goo and will work on bow rails and gel coat. It removes wax so you will need to re-wax the areas you clean with it.

No harm to Stainles steel. In Fiberglass business. We use acetone on gel coat every day. Best cleaner we have available to us.
