Very strange. I only see them if I click the button on top right. I mainly use my iPhone though not desk top computer.

I hadn't thought about that. Until this happened, I never minded the ads, and I actually clicked on a few (snapincarpet.com and a few others) because they were products I am interested in plus it helps out the site. I may have to go the "hide sidebar" route if this one keeps showing up!

Tips to help avoid this crap. Stop using any and all google products (god help you guys on android), stop using facebook. Those two sights go way out of their way to track you and identify your interests. Even in ways that you don't suspect. For example, on Facebook: if you notice an ad like that, it catches your attention and you stop scrolling for a moment. THEY KNOW YOU DID THAT. Doesn't matter why you did it, they just know that you stopped. Maybe you stopped because you're disgusted by it. Doesn't matter, now that get's marked as an interest to you.

Also, use the incognito windows more often. It's not just for porn.

This makes a lot of sense. I was recently looking at the news on UofM and Harbaugh while scrolling through FB and I stopped on something about him, so it is no wonder why it gave me an ad like that.

First, I admire the fact that you’re willing to admit in public that you’re an ohio state grad. Second, I think it’s pretty telling that the Winged Helmet is showing up on your Facebook page. Maybe more than a few fantasies in your closet? GO BLUE
