OK that is a lot of acronyms.
Since all new Marine radio’s (VHF) have DSC and to work are required to be connected to a GPS and be registered anyways, why don’t they build Automatic Identification System (AIS) into all VHF radio’s so regular pleasure craft have the same safety benefits of commercial craft using AIS?

If mass products and available in a ubiquitous manor I just cant see how this would add much to the cost of the radio if the AIS was built into the radio, just like you can get a basic DSC VHF for uner $100.
