Why Does the 2008 310DA weigh 1500 lbs more than the 2006 300DA? Same beam and LOA.

Overall length, dead rise, base engines, and beam of the two boats are identical, yet the 310 weighs 1500 lbs more. The main difference I can see is the rather small hardtop that the 310DA has. Hard to believe that would add 1500 lbs. Anyone have any ideas why this extra weight for the 310? Looking at the 300 or 310 as an upgrade and hate to drive around with 1500 extra pounds.

I think the 310DA also has a deeper bow area than the 300DA. Plus the molded in swim platform probably adds more weight than the bolt on platform.

Those hardtops are heavy. You can see the same difference in weight between the 340 (03-08) and the 350/370 that replaced it. Same dimensions, yet the replacement boat is around 1500 lbs or more heavier.

The 2008 hard tops are not THAT heavy. Mine came back on "by hand" - and it took 4 small guys :) so I would guess it is max 200 kg/440 lbs

If the small 310 hardtop weighs 1500 lbs, think how much the hardtop weighs on some of the SR cruisers with a full hardtop. I'm thinking of the 420/44. Maybe they had to add stiffness to the hull to support the hardtop, and only a fraction of the 1500 lbs is actually in the top itself.
