Why do we keep giving away our technology

I posted this in the EV forum…no response

Follow the money.

All those involved in schemes such as this are snakes (far stronger words came to mind, can't use here or on line) and doing everything they can to line their own pockets and destroy this country's economy. I don't care who they are or how superior their station in society is, their day will come and karma will take it's toll, one way or the other (hopefully in the most severe way possible) and set an example to others what is to come for them, too.

This is bullshit and whoever was president in 2017 and 2021 should be tried for treason for allowing this to happen.

Not exactly true. This particular battery was developed by an Australian Engineer/Scientist named Skyllas-Kazacos in 1983 and he held the Patent until it expired in 2006. The US dabbled with the technology and Japan uses it for buffer storage for their windmills. It is not production friendly and the internal membrane that manages the flow has proven to be very problematic.

It holds promise though but at this stage .......it is not ready for prime time.

I do agree with you regarding how China gets its tech. The last Patent I received included a visit with the US Patent Officer in charge of the area my Patent covered. He had recently become a US Citizen from............China.

So, I suppose that patent officers' goal in life is to forward any promising patent applications to his handlers in China.

The problem is: He wouldn't be doing anything wrong if he did.

The Patent Office is just a repository for ideas where the most original claim has value. It's purpose was to provide a single repository where an idea could be described in detail and subsequently licensed for others to use. For the most part that works okay in the US if you are willing to litigate. It fails miserably outside the US and is hopeless in India, China, Russia and a host of Asian countries because they could care less what our laws are.

Beyond the Patents the real problem is reverse engineering especially in China. No US product is safe from it. It starts with them getting the product and having covert engineers at US companies that understand how the product works.

Lets say when I am not boating....I am developing synthetic lithium for battery technology. In production synthetic lithium would change the world on battery tech......do I file a Patent on it?

The lawyers would tell you yes and that you will need to hire an entire global law firm to defend it.

Read up a bit more. This idea was not given away by the US to China. It was being researched around the world. It has not been proven to be able to be commercialized. The source of the article is a business that wants you to believe. And to click and repost. Follow the money. They got you hook line and sinker. You are making money for them.

In the early 90's when I was at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) the state department reached a deal to allow the Chinese to purchase a bunch of MD 80s. The catch was that the Chinese wanted to manufacture part of the planes domestically. The problem was they did not have the capability to machine the parts to the tolerances required. McDonnell Douglas balked at turning over precision machine tools to the Chinese. The Clinton administration forced the issue and McDonnell Douglas complied with the caveat that the machine tools be returned after the contract was satisfied. The machine tools were never returned. Now we have China building Gen 5 fighters. Not a coincidence.

Isn’t it an interesting coincidence that shortly after Zodiac moved major production to China, the market was flooded with cheap inflatables made, guess where? China. Hmmmm
