Whos doing what, to their PRE CLINTON ERA boats this year?

$8.46 a gallon for gas in the US would have everyone really screaming. Wow!

I am going to replace all of the lighting with LED's. Maybe add a helicopter pad also.

Diesel is 7.7$ ...this will kill boating on the Med for good!

Going to take Old Skool to solid state with breakers this year. Not too much to do as she's pretty basic. I have the printed board, breakers, and leads. I'll build a new harness back to the engine and batteries. Looking for the right water proof box to mount it all in right now.

After 35 years it's due for an update.

I want to add extra leads for lights and gadgets.

I would like to replace all of the gauges, if I could only find out how to pullout the dashboard. - Has anyone eer done this?

On mine there is a total of 6 screws. 3 that hold the the plastic panel w/ the gauges to the Vinyl wrap around, but then you also have to undo the vinyl wrap around. 2 screws you acces from your head where the door lifts open to acces the guages from the rear and a fuse panel. then there is on little buger thats hard to get. You have to get under the dash from the cockpit side and its one screw that is at the end of where your switch panel is.

If you want pics let me know, i will be more than happy to show you.

This weekend I redid the bottom paint...

I think I am ready for my April 7th launch date!!!!

Going to put in my TV/DVD and replace my snap in carpet up top so I can open the engine cover without pulling the carpet first. Maybe make a new dinette table. BTW - Anyone know where to get a original flush mount style table mount for the floor?

I have to start thinking about upgrading my battery bank. Let me explain. I bought my Searay in the fall. She has always been kept at a marina so a pair of Group 24's for each engine has always been enough for the previous owners. I am planning keeping her on a mooring, and on the hook (pretty much) the rest of the time.

I need to decide if I should upgrade to golf cart batteries or 4D's. Anyone have any thoughts?

I should add that I do have generator onboard. Just don't want to have to run it several hours a day.

I run four group 31s and also have a gennie.

Replacing the old Benson windlass with a Lewmar V700.

Adding an electric head.

Raw water pumps.

New full bimini canvas with camper back.

New head faucet.

Thinking about putting a single mixer valve and shower setup separate from the head faucet.

Maybe a transom shower.

I am hoping to add a transom shower as well. Need a little canvas work and planning to replace snap in cockpit carpet. Have the original maroon, and going to go to berber. Should be a little cooler on the feet!

Also would kill to find a 3 or 4kw gen. There is always this "money thing" that gets in the way!

Shoot, just the flooring??? He better make a thread and post all of it, I love seeing what and how everbody does mods/upgrades to their boats!

I just picked up 125 square feet of the Allure and will install as soon as I can. Just finished new canvas and had new coaming pads and matching cushions made for the cockpit. Will be restriping as well. My boat had red stripes, canvas etc and I'm replacing it all with black and gray. After the flooring is in, I'm going to do all the counters inside in granite or corian that looks like granite. Just trying to figure out how to get that done.

Well...black canvas! It seems I started a trend :smt001 I'm curious to see the result with the grey striping.

Counters: have you thought of just covering them with new formica.? There are so many varieties to chose from...and it's much cheaper.

Hey Pietro!
I really like the look of granite. We have granite at home and at our beach place. I'm pricing it and it's about $70'a square foot completely installed which works out to about $1500 for Everything in our boat. Next down is Corian Counters which look just like granite for $40-50 a square foot. Corian is lighter that granite.
This week while in Home Depot, I noticed that same marble that costs $70 a foot can also be bought in 1 square foot tiles for $5-10 a foot. These would have to be cut and mortared into place but even with $10 foot installation, I get the same look for 1/4 the cost.

Hey Doc, Hows that new 39 treating you? As soon as the shrink wrap comes off......another 30 days here in the Boston area, I am going to rip up the carpet and intall the Alure flooring product as well. I cant take another season of pink carpet! Still tying to decide between the teak or a lighter wood. All of my cabinetry and bulkheads are teak on my 300 Sundancer. Hey, where did your 300 end up?

I traded the 300 to Tobnpr for the current 390 (and some money too....) he sold it somewhere as he really wants a fishing machine center console. I love this 390. It's just like the 300 except dimensionally bigger in all directions. Inside is huge. Diesels are awesome, better mileage than the 350 gassers on the 300.
I'm heading down tomorrow to start some of this work. It'll be 70 and sunny there. I'll get pictures.
