No, your wrong. That would be a left hand motor even if it was standing straight up or straight down ,sideways, or front to rear.Correct me if I'm wrong, but It's considered a reverse rotation because it rotates counter clockwise when viewed from the "rear" of the motor, which faces the bow of the boat.
When viewed from the crankshaft (or stern), its a standard clockwise rotation of the crankshaft.

Engine direction has no bearing on how the trans or prop is turning for transmission applications.
