Who is planning to buy another boat before spring?

ahhh man, why did you have to start this thread... I had one day where I forgot about shopping for another boat and now you had to remind me.

I like twins and I need another one with twin 5hp on the back! LOA around 8'6" to 10'2" as an accessory to the 300 DA we just bought!! I think a dink with twin 5hp's would be a great match! :)

Wanting a 300 to a 320, have a 260 now looking for a larger boat for the family. For trips and overnights.

We are going to a boat show just to L00K..........now where did I put those gelcoatitis capsules???

Moving from a 240DA to a 320DA. Our original upgrade plans were to move to a 280 but realized for the type of boating we are really enjoying, we need more space and more beam. We then decided on a 300DA but when the admiral saw the full queen berth up front, that was all she wrote. And every day starts with a cup of java and scouring the internet to see what new boats have been posted. Oh what fun!

Mike

We settle this Thursday on our new boat after two years of shopping. Traded our 320 DA for the 36 DB. Spring cannot get here soon enough.

I'm shopping....but I'm a used boat buyer.....and also a used boat seller/trader.....the MM salseman knows what I want....he just doesn't have one right now....but he's looking...Oh...and don't let the admiral know....

Taking delivery on our 2006 48 Monday. Cutting across the Okeechobee waterway Tuesday to Cape Coral with Captain (Tom). Excited, but a bit nervous since there is 4.14 feet clearance "route 1" and we draft 4 feet.

MissNMountains - With the lake so low I don't think I would take delivery until it is through the lake. (Grin)

I sure would like a new 290SS under the tree this year, how about you Dave.

I have been planning to buy a 240 or 260 SD for several years. The hard part for me is actually seperating with the cash in order to buy a Sundeck. So instead I actually bought new spark plugs, bellows, a dist. cap and rotor for my current 230.

looking at moving from a 280 dancer up to a 320,330 or 340 dancer. Hopefully something will turn up at the NY boat show in 2 weeks

We have been looking too (for used) and like Dom, my dealer and some others know what I want. But then, in all the years we have been boating, I can’t recall a time when I wasn’t finding the next boat.

The issue now is that the boating market seems to mirror the real estate market. That is, it can be considered a buyer’s market and great deals await those with the time to find and negotiate them. Unfortunately, this also affects a boat you are trying to sell or trade. I think the only answer now is to be patient and sell only at a reasonable and fair price. Then go shopping without having to unload your current boat at a huge loss just to avoid being a two boat owner.

To quickly answer the post's question, no we just did. I'm hoping to get he ready by the middle of January to take out for her maiden voyage.

I think we did really well JR, like you said the market is full of boats. We can only afford a used boat for the size we want/needed. We luckily sold our 1999~230OV in Late July (peak season)and got exactly what I needed to sell it for. This gave us a couple grand to bank, plus other money we set aside to put towards the 2000~260DA we just bought. Ironically we paid 2 grand less for the 260DA than I paid for the 230OV back in 2000,:wow: not including the trailer or FWC we're adding + some canvas fix ups. With the money we put down we'll be paying $8.00 less a month including the new triple axle trailer than our 230OV.
I looked, as many of you know for quite awile. I think I was patient and thorough and the right deal for us came along.

Best of luck to those that are looking; be patient, it WILL pay off. You may just want to wait until early to mid summer to sell and sacrifice a couple of those awesome late summer early fall boating days, like we did(believe me it was tough) to gain that price drop.

Wrote the check yesterday on my new ( previously enjoyed 270 Sundeck ) I left it at MM to have the rear bimini extended to cover the cockpit.
Details:
Red 2004 270 Sundeck 496 Mag 375 hp with 23 hours!!!!
Bow thruster, corsa exhaust, upgraded stereo, bowfiller cushions and vacuflush head.
I don't think there is an option this boat does not have.

The only thing I am bummed about is it is too cold to wax it.

We also just bought a new baby... Hope to take delivery on a 2007 310 Sundancer next week. Christmas present to ourselves. Upgraded from a 2005 220 Sundeck.

Why don't wait a few weeks and it's a 2008.

Or doesn't it work that way?

Peter.
