Incognito splashed a few weeks ago and had a few issues arise. The cockpit ice maker that seemed to cost a small fortune last season didn't work. It wasn't getting water and it appears that a leak developed in the supply line. Also, the ever-faithful Westerbeke generator was not flowing any water out the through hull like it always had......and ran hot. Found the impeller completely gone, so that got replaced. Supposedly the impeller was new in 2013 so we didn't do it this winter. Now I get to climb back in there and pull the heat exchanger to check it for debris.

So who else has had surprises this year when their boat splashed? Hopefully nothing too serious, but we all know how boating is......,

count me in, I had to change the impeller on my outdrive because of issues with running hot earlier this year, she ran flawlessly the next (6) six or so outings and then yesterday she started running hot again ...............

Only thing that doesn't work this year that did last year is my water pump for my faucets. It runs but barely pumps any water. I've cleaned the filter and all screens and still just barely pumps. It won't build pressure either. I gotta decided to rebuild the pump or just buy a new one

Splashed, pulled out of marina, hit a log, pulled right back into slings to haul. Luckily only a damaged prop.

One of those winters..... We went below zero several times and normally with everything winterized and a Boat Safe heater going in the ER I have never had a problem. Half way through the winter the Boat Safe heater (10 years old) gives up. No worries because everything is winterized. Well....lesson learned...the port engine seacock cracked at and below the lever. I have a temporary clamp fix on it to keep the water minimized but I'm headed for a haul out to replace the valve next week. Minor problem compared to losing an engine.

The storage yard delivered my neighbor's new go-fast to his lift last week. On Saturday, he started both engines and ran them to make sure everything was ok. Then he lowered the boat in the water and went for a ride. I caught up with him in my dinghy before he got very far.

I'm not quite sure what your implying here....did he ruin the motors by running them out of the water?

He trashed the impellers for sure. It was billowing steam by the time I stopped him. He hadn't left the marina yet, so the engines might be ok.

My starboard trim pump tank sprung a leak. Does anybody know if you can buy just the pastc tanks for merc alpha trim pumps?

Impeller was shot - Luckily A Bravo III is pretty easy. EVERY weekend has been crap though.

Indoor heated storage… Micro-Switch in ice maker got stuck and caused the cube harvesting finger rack to sheer off leaving me without a proper mixed drink! Luckily, a used Fridgidaire ice maker unit has the same finger rack and micro switches so for $20 I was able to once again drink like a proper gentleman.

Nothing major installed new exhaust shutters and of course I broke one installing it so now I have a spare after buying two more. Thermostat failed and since I'm trailer trash for what ever reason my trailer got all out of adjustment never seen a bunk type trailer do that before.Horn died and insulation on wire was shot and no extra wire under neath so a 30 minute job turned into an hour and a half. Dash back lighting light up but are useless. But on a trip to Lake Shenango some young guy in a pickup pulled up beside me hooked his horn and gave me a thumbs up and said nice boat felt like a time one of my boys hit a home run in little league .

Final cruise last year the starboard engine stalled at idle, twice. Whatever, probably the IAC valve. Replaced it and she sat. Come this year first time out of slip and starboard engine dies as soon as I put her in reverse. Pull forward and tie her back up, time to get to the bottom of this. Determined the shift cable was worn and was tripped the micro switch to kill the engine. So... decide to replace both shift cables. And since I'm doing that, may as well replace all of the bellows...on both stern drives. Ok, so now Friday (yes, this Friday) is my new splash date!
