My buddy just got one of these. He says it makes awesome ice balls, some crystal clear. I'm thinking of getting one of these novelties. It's made in Osceola WI.

At $399 I believe I would rather put at good wikey and still use my Kenmore
    Elite cubed ice.

I believe this was the first guy making these in the USA. I use to call on his machine shop here in IL where he was making them.

Cheapskate that I am, I’m pretty happy with the large cube ice cube trays I picked up for a few bucks on Amazon. They make some pretty nice round 2” cubes. I’ve even got a couple that make square ones.

I’m typically a Tangueray and Tonic guy. Regular cubes are great for that!
But when I want a sipping whiskey my choice is Jack Daniels Single Barrel and the 2” cubes are the way to go for that.
They don’t melt down before I finish the drink so no watered down taste.

I've found that the large 2" or larger cubes don't melt as quickly. I tend to like a little ice melt, although if I'm drinking a Johnny Walker Blue or some good Highland Scotch, I'll drink it neat.
