Which Smartcraft vesselview version/model is this? I keep getting 2 errors once underway, Fuel sender error, engine sensor. It also restarts/reboots while underway. any thoughts?

Looks like the second generation display that would be age appropriate for your boat. I think it is one of the sorta color displays. The errors should be more specific, that suggests maybe a connection error rather than a fault with the actual items. But you might have a mechanic put a computer on the engines to make sure there isn’t an actual fault.

Good news is that the newer version would be a drop in, where the worst part might be the change is hole size.

Thanks Henry, is there a thread to show the process of how to upgrade? vv7 looks good but expensive maybe a winter project?

Sorry, I think I gave you inaccurate info. I just noticed your signature. DTS complicates things. I know the VV sets up and calibrates DTS. What I don’t know is what the impact would be if the VV is removed. I don’t want to be the guy who turned your boat into a paperweight. So it’s not completely a DIY as you may need a Merc tech with tools to re calibrate the DTS. Otherwise you unplug the old unit and then plug in the new unit. You may need to change the display cable as well. If you have any data coming from your mfd via NMEA, that will also need to be changed. If the existing connection is NMEA 0183, then it will have to be converted to NMEA 2000. Companies like Raymarine have 0183 to 2000 converters at reasonable costs.

So do your research, it literally is plug and play.

Thanks. I really like the VesselView502/702 - look really awesome. Yes I will need to convert to NMEA 2000 and add a new MFD (looking simrad).
