I am trying to decide on a canvas cover. Does anyone has any experience with the two Fisher co's? H Fisher and sons or Fisher Canvas.

I said goodbye to shrink wrap 4 or 5 seasons ago when I bought my Fisher Canvas cover. It paid for itself in a little less than two seasons and has served me well since.

Fisher didn't have a pattern for my boat when I contacted them so they went down to the local SR dealer and measured a 270SLX to make my pattern. I like their attitude.

I used HF for my cover, I went for the vinyl cover since I Have to do it all myself, it weighs alot less, the canvas is definitely the premium cover, but costs double as well.

Frank came out measured, and delivered my cover, as well as helped me put it on
I would definetly reccommend HF, tell him larry sent you

Just purchased a cover from Fred Fisher of Fisher Canvas out of Burlington NJ. He came to my marina and measured my boat since he had not done one before. He has done lots of work for Staten Island Boat sales up the street from our club and I thought the cover he delivered looked well made. I have not unrolled it and put it on yet but it was marked on top with arrows that showed the right orientation on the boat and got a quick how-to from Fred when he delivered it yesterday. It took about 3-4 weeks from ordering. Will comment again when I get it on.

This is my first year with the cover. It is made of a material similart to the grey rubberized poly tarp, it is white however. it is supposed to last between 6-8 years, and can be repaired. My ROI on it will be 3 years, after that it is icing on the cake.
I would have gone with the canvas (approx 10 year life span) but since I do all the work myself, the canvas cover @ 200+ lbs, versus the Vinyl @ 50 lbs, i went with the one easier to setup. To install, all you have to do is unroll the cover while on deck of the boat. then you tie down front, sides and rear, then raise 4 poles in bow deck, and in the rear place 2 2x4 in the pockets on the rear slant. Took me a solid hour and a half to do everything myself, the most time consuming part was to cut and tie all the ropes first time, fits almost like shrink wrap.

What was nice about dealing with frank is that he confident enough about his work that he made and delivered the cover, before asking to get paid one cent

I like the sound of your cover Larry. I looked into Fisher covers last season. The woman I dealt with was real nice, responsive and helpful. The problem I had was that my canvas cover would have weighed in at 135-145 lbs. She stated it was a two person job to install and I had to make a PVC tubing frame. They also had to make several pockets for my radar and tracvision. I don't really have help to do the install since my schedule tends to fluxuate and I have to tackle things kinda without notice. That and the fact that I never seem to have time lately prompted me to stick with shrink wrap , for now.

I gave it a shot since I always had a cover on my previous boats. So, I decided to give Fisher a try as they seamed to have decently priced product. I don't remember details of the material but the one I got was white color and he said it's what they used on trucks as well. If I recall I paid about $1100-$1200 for my 320DA cover. The fit wasn't great, but I could deal with it since I was planning to have my own frame to support the cover.

Long story short, when I thought I can make it work and was happy that I paid ~50% of the price for competative covers, the day I installed the cover it was raining. So, I had first hand experience of watching this cover leak almost in every seam. So, it was a simple decision that the product just what you pay for. I have to give Frank the creadit for being professional and take the cover back with no problem and issued full refund.

I've seen their covers (the same material mine was made of) around, but I don't know how they hold up. May be people just don't know that they leak and hope that some don't have leaks.

Anyway, Frank and his wife are nice people and I was sorry that the cover didn't work for me.
