:smt024 Hello to all. Hope your summer is going well. I know this has been kicked around before but I need some first hand advice. Getting ready to purchase either a Hurley or a Nautley davit system. What I need is some first hand advice from folks that have them on their 340 SD's. Mine is an 04. Looks as though the top of my swim platform is 23" off of the water. I will be using a 9' West Marine dink. I am worried about all the horror stories I hear from people that bought the wrong size and the dink will not load properly. Hurley makes the regular and the H2O. Nautley makes two types. I need info from boat owners that have a swim platform that is about 23" off the water. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks ,
George :smt100:huh:

Have you considered a custom davit solution, made specifically for your boat and dinghy?

I considered and researched both nautley and hurley. I ended up making my own with ideas from different threads on this site. I have 10 inch extensions and the dinghy fits perfect. I have a 270 air deck with a 3.5. Not having to take the motor off is great. This setup is quite easy to pull up. My setup fits into weaver quick connects and is easily removed. My design is similar to the nautley without the rollers and I can load the dinghy quite easily. If that helps you at all.
I also designed and fabricated a grille mount that fits into the weavers and hangs the grille over the water.
If I was to buy I think i would buy the h2o's, while doing my research it appears that you need the 10 inch extensions on the h2o's not sure about the nautleys.

Custom doesn't always mean more cost. Sometimes it means you get exactly what you want and save a few $$. I made these myself in a weekend.
