Has anyone seen Captain Rusty Higgins lately?

He has been pretty quiet. Maybe he has a new lady friend keeping him busy...or maybe he is just out delivering boats.

Where are you Cap?

He replied on one of my posts a day or so ago, so he's definitely around.

Rusty had a delivery from St. Pete thru Okeechobee and up to Georgia between Christmas and New Years…….He was alive and well and on I-95 headed home to the Merritt Island area the last time we spoke. He has weeks of unused vacation, so I suspect he is just cooling it.

Maybe he is with Waldo? He sent a text to me the other day so he is up and around...

I spoke to hm yesterday. He's on the job and working hard for us Sea Ray owners.

He was around on New Years Day

Good at what?????

It is good to know that if I am ever lost my daughters can come to this site and I will be located in short order....LOL.

Good morning and Good New Year to all.....I believe we just went through a Christmas season but it was not easy to tell that from the water. I have been on some wet streets lately and that has also kept me away from this screen. Travels included...

Bringing the new 510FLY back from the west coast, on the first weekend in December, to the plant for shipping to Prince William Marine in VA.

Drove a new 510 Sundancer to Miami and was able to bring Shaun & Heather with me....good stuff!

Spent Christmas day with daughters and grandchildren. First thing on Dec 26, I boarded a new 441 Meridian in St. Petersburg FL and drove that beautiful boat around the state and up to Charleston SC for our dealer there, The Hall Group.

It sure was quiet on the waterways this time of year. Just about all the Maple Leaf sailboats are here now so was able to stay on plane more than usual. Placid and cool at sunrise and Florida winter sun coming up to 75 by mid-day. Stopped and overnighted in some of the most historic places in this country...St. Petersburg, St. Augustine, Fernandina Beach, Savannah and King Charles Town SC....and even Roland Martin's Fish Camp in the heart of Lake Okeechobee FL....if you do not know this state, take a look and you will see where we cut through the middle to avoid having to go around the Florida Keys...fuel savings but slow with locks (5).

On my trip to Chalreston, I had 2 friends come along for mates and here is my take away from those two. Both have completed their courses for the OUPV (six-pack) licenses and wanted some experience in places they have not been before. After traversing the Gulf of Mexico, Freshwater Rivers, ICW (intercoastal waterway) and the all mighty Atlantic Ocean, they commented that they received more knowledge and insight on captaining than they ever would have in a class room or on their own boats at the helm....on one trip. And both said they would have run aground more than once without local knowledge on board.

Thinking on how I can broadcast my next trip and see if any of you would enjoy tagging along...I could use the help but will warn you that I am not a pleasure boater. I enjoy seeing the sun come up after I pass the jetties in the morning and our eloquent dinner at night may come from under the red light bulb as we will probably not tie up until after dark...fuel, rinse, it will be 9pm before we eat.

Wanna come?????

Thanks for checking on me and if you see my family, tell them you heard from me!

Looking forward to the New Year,

Capt. Rusty Higgins

Rusty

I would gladly come.....by the way I checked my slip, I think you lost your way delivering one of those boats to me!

I will have to talk to Santa again, he told me if I just cuddled up there on his knee and gave him a big kiss, that the boat of my dreams would be delivered.....

He is real isn't he? I didn't get conned again?

Well, Cap

Sounds like you have been out spreading the Sea Ray gospel. Good work.

Did you at least take off the last couple of days, since I presume the plant is on Christmas shutdown, even if Rusty wasn't on Christmas break?

Crewing on a delivery of a new 65' would be pretty damn cool if you ask me!

Rusty, sounds like a nice relaxing day on the water. Eat by 9, in bed by 9:30. Must be nice to be retired.

Rusty,

Will you be around the Miami show in Feb? Planning on spending 2-3 days there this year, would love to stop in a say hi.

Yeah, good question. Does the Sea Ray Marketing Department having you showing up at any boat shows? If you are relatively close by, I might come and buy you a beer...
