I have a 2006 225 weekender and I was wondering where to mount a new P79 "shoot thru the hull" transducer in the engine compartment. The factory installed one is on the port side, is it ok to install a new one on the starboard side? will they interfere with each other?

Sure that will work, I had one of those, they work great!!

You have a double hull - that can screw things up. The factory one is a full thru-hull. You're going to need to experiment with location before you make anything permanent.

I was told by Airmar that the P79 and the Smartcraft Transducer they manufacture for Merc run on different frequencies so they will not interfere with each other. Since you have a 2006, I am assuming it is the Smartcraft Depth/Temp Transducer you have.

You can confirm this by finding the White AIRMAR tag with the Airmar part number and calling them directly along with the p/n off the P79. The tag will be on the cord which should be on top front of the engine where it plugs in to the Smartcraft engine harness.
