I have a small grill I like (not a magma). Where and how to mount on my 280 Sundancer? Looking for ideas/pictures please.

I completely stole this idea from someone else on this forum. I bolted a table pole mounting plate in the swim deck ladder storage between the ladder rungs. When I want to use the table I just open the ladder lid and screw my table pole into the plate and let the ladder lid lean against the pole. I put a table top on the pole and use a 17" blackstone griddle instead of grill, but I think you can mount a grill to those poles instead of the table top. I guess it depends on which grill you have. Sorry I don't have any pics.

Like Kenn and others, I installed a mount under the swim step lid so that it was covered when not in use. That was for a Magma but a table attached to that pole would work as well. I also had a table that attached to the transom storage compartment rail that you could put a table top grill on. This was on a 300DA but would work perfectly for a 280DA as well.

I'll tell you what's worse than mounting the geill, itsi where to store it when not in use!

^^^ This! I saw some pics of a quick detach grill table on another thread (think the name was Hafnutz ) and it is awesome. I bought a stainless table top grill for half the price of a magma but then discovered there's no where to store the damn grill. Im not allowed a dock box either

My Catalina stores on the engine room floor, between the motors. pre heats the grill.

Love that table set up on the transom. Any idea where to find that one?

Can someone tell me where I can find the hardware to this table? I’m thinking about making my own.

checkout www.grillamount.com I have a big ol' magma Catalina and finding a place for it is a pain, but the rail mount is awesome.

Mines on Swim Platform...post and grill store in a bag.

I am mounting up the same type of setup on a pedestal this weekend. Do you find that the grill being in line with the boat is better for wind? I'm thinking maybe if it open directly to the back of the boat the wind when anchored wouldn't try to blow the flame out. Any thoughts?

It does help....Really have not had any issues. It's a nice setup as it's out of the way and near the water away from the boat as much as possible.

Swivel it on the post to find the best position for the particular wind conditions.

Grill off and put away, leaves lots of room on the back.

Mine is a Magma Newport and I use thier rod holder mount. I store the grill in one of the compartments under the forward berth.

On my prior boat I had Scotty Downrigger mount plates on the gunwales. I had a custom aluminum mounting bracket made that fit in the downrigger mount and held the grill out over the water a bit (bar angled out) so that it was a bit out of the way in the cockpit. That boat was a 25 footer so I wanted some space to the kids wouldn't get burned accidentally. Worked like a charm.
