I am missing the rub rail end cap on the port side. I think the PO had a bad docking and took it out at some point (though there isn't any other damage) and I would like to replace it when the weather warms up.

The parts manual says I need a part #0958074 Rub Rail End Cap 290SDA97 (I presume it was used on the 290 as well as the 270 in 98). Any suggestions, besides a dealer, on where to find this? Thanks in advance.

Bryan,

Have you tried an internet search for rub rails? There was a thread in here somewhere with a link to a very comprehensive selection of them. I'll look in a while for you.

few minutes later; I searched some old threads and it appears that Dennis at "Peters Marine Service" recommends an outfit called "Taco". You could try a net search of them. Also try googling the following phrase for a list of subject related threads on our site.

site:clubsearay.com rub rail

I see Frank Webster posted a link also. This sounds like the place to start; http://tacomarine.com/cat--Rub-Rail--rubrail.html

Good luck, and let us know what ya come up with.

Yes, I did an Internet search, checked Flounder Pounder, etc. the rub rail end looks like a pecialized piece, not a standard rub rail end. Taco doesn't stock it. I did a rub rail search here, but I will do another one now that I know a thread exists. Sometimes you can't come up with what you are looking for.

I just bought one from searay man on e-bay. I thought the price was a little high but, he ships quickly and stands behind his products. I have never had a problem buying from him.

Thanks! That's the sucker!!! :smt038 I knew someone would have a direct link in this forum.

Now, seeing it as a real part, how does it stay in? Friction or caulking?

It just pushes on. It comes with plastic anchors attached. You should have holes the anchors push into.
