Hi, We are purchasing a 1998 270SE and would like to add TV. Where can an external antenna be mounted. This boat is lacking a radar arch and I really don't want to put anything outside that would be in the way or detract from the appearance on the boat. Plus, I don't want to spend alot of money on something that really isn't that important. Would an antenna inside work?

Thanks in advance,

Can't answer your question, but, a 5.7L in a 270 seems kind of skinny to me.

I have gotten some channels with an inside style antenna, but it will not be like the booster type on the arch the bigger vessels sport.

That was one of the changes from 97 to 98, reducing the base power from 7.4 to 5.7. If it is a low option lightly loaded boat then it may be ok. Mine has gennie, chain rode, and we are heavy packers, It would not work for me. MM

I installed interior 12v digital antenna from radio shack and i'am pleasantly surprised how well it works at anchor. It is completely buried in a soffit that is close to the ceiling. I also have and not used very often a exteral in line cable jack that I have plugged into with temporary rabbit ears for extened coverage.

I wondered about that and asked mechanics, boatowners and brokers and they all assured me that for my needs it would be fine. This is our first "big" boat and we are estatic about getting it.
