Where do you put your charts or chart book at the helm of the smaller newer cruisers? I have a nice chart area on my 270 and still have multiple good locations for a plotter. This question came to mind while viewing a thread on plotter placement.

I have a great chart book, that is a managable size. I use the plotter primarily, but still keep the chartbook handy for access when needed. I have it lay on the starboard side of the helm's dash. The binding is on the dash and the open page side is in the gutter channel next to the window frame. It works pretty good, but no it's not readable there. Just a place to have it at the ready.

Like Todd, we use the plotter mostly, but on this trip up the Hudson, I didn't want to buy a chip I may never use again, so we improvised.....just keep them handy, and it helps if you don't have to take your eyes to far off course.
Man, it was cold that day
