- A Ford 351, a couple GM 350s and a Cummins 6BT to pull it all (W250)
The old Motorolla Nautilus is not sending and while it could be just the mic I got to thinking that IF we replaced it, would we put it back in the same place? Right now it is mounted down below (on the 260 DA) on a bulkhead but within reach of the helm (though not convenient). The 240 WE radio is up at the helm.
Which external mount is preferred and why? We boat on inland waters and hardly ever need the radio for regular communication. Mostly there for emergencies or an ocassional hail. I'm thinking down below since A. we rarely use it B. its out of sight (theft) C. when we're sleeping it would be down there with us D. If & when its needed you can reach around and grab the mic (although this old one doesn't have any controls on it to change channels etc).
For those with a cabin, where did you mount and why?
