Spiders have been a real pain in the butt last year, our first season of boating for 30 years. Sprays didn't help much, and the Dryer Sheets did help a little, but were a pain to use. It was time to try something different.:smt021

At the end of last season on our Amberjack 290, we put a NO PEST STRIP in the cabin and hung one up in the cockpit, had it shrinkwrapped at the slip and left it in the water all winter.

We recommissioned the boat during the 3rd week of March this year and was pleased to report NO SPIDERS. We put new NO PEST STRIPS back in the cabin and cockpit and are happy to report no spiders.:smt038

When we purchased our new boat, ANYTIME, we again put the strips in the COCKPIT only and for the past 3 weeks, we haven't encountered a single (or married) spider. The boats on either side of us have spiders and their webs all over the place, we have none.

At less than $6.00 each at WALMART, those strips were a super investment in keeping the boat spider and web free.:smt043

I'm gonna give that a try. Our marina has these post lights along the center walkway, and I made a reflector out of a Coke Can and put in in the fixture to keep some of the direct light off the boat; I figured less light, fewer bugs, fewer spiders. It seem to help a little, but not enough to greatly reduce my maintenance time.
