Hi all,

Just before putting the new SeaRay in the water last weekend, I installed a LiquidLite light that screws into the drain plug (no need for a hole in the hull). I threaded the electrical wire through the drain plug hole and got in the engine compartment.

Now where do I plug it in? Do I have to remove the dash electrical pannel to run a wire from one of the acc switches to the wire in the engine compartment?

Is there an electrical pannel where I can connect the light?

I plan to have one of the dashboard acc switches operate the light.

Help please for a newbie

When you ask, "where do I plug this in", it sounds like there is a 110 volt plug on the end. This would not be normal for a 12 volt lite. Or, possible you just have bare wires and your asking where you would geta power source. If this is the case, since your only using one light you could probably find a power source behind the panel and run it to your switch. I would suggest you use an inline fuse. You may even be able to find a power buss someplace close by tie off of that. If I didn't understand your question...let me know.

Sorry for the confusion. I have a 12v light with bare wires at the end ans an inline fuse receptacle on the red (+) wire.

I have never installed electric accessories on a boat (on a car or a motorcycle yes but not on a boat).

I want to activate the light from one of the accessories switch in the dashboard.

My question is : How do I access the back of the panel on the dashboard to connect the light to the switch? Is there an access panel or do I have to remove the pannel from the front?

The boat is a 2002 Sundancer 300 DA

thanks in advance

Has any one ever seen one of these in action. Very interesting concept, just wondering what kind of lighting you get from one fixture. I'd connect with some kind of quick connect system as you'll probably want to remove in the off season if your lucky enough to have one. (Snowing here today but back to 60 by the end of the week)

Guy, I see you do have an off season (Montreal) We'll be up your way in July to see the U2 Concert. Staying in the Old Port.

If you haven't received an answer to your question yet, yes, you will probably have to pull your front panel out to access your wiring and back of your switch. This should not be to difficult. Most panels can be removed from the front, probably by removing screws. I don't have any experience with the guage panels on a 2002, mine is a "89" 340...but I don't think things have changed that much.
Let me throw this out and maybe someone will also have some input as well. One thing I have noticed with rear lights is this, when we turn them on, we (well at least I do) want to run to the back and make sure there on. You might want to consider placing the switch at the back to the boat. Just a thought. R

My 280 has bilge lights that are switched from the dash. You might want to tap into this circuit provided you are not overloading the wire size.
