Well, the Norcold on my 410 DA took a crap. Any ideas on where to get a Vitrifrigo for a good price? I'm on Lake Erie in Ohio if that helps... Could also buy from a dealer in Michigan.

try sure marine,i paid less for my new vf and shipping than anyone else wanted before shipping.Just about two months ago.

Try Defender Industries in Waterford, Ct. I got mine there but picked it up.

When I was searching Defender had the price shipping and freight costs. That fridge was one of the best things we have done to the boat.

Spurdog... Did you install it yourself? Is this a relatively straightforward installation? I heard that it can be difficult to remove the old fridge from the cabin and bring the new one in without disassembling it...

As for getting the old fridge out it was as tight as getting the Vitrifrigo in. The old Norcold was made easier by just cutting the hard lines off the rear of the fridge body. The new Vit was made easier to get in by removing the doors as well as the flange portion that runs all the way around the front of the fridge where they are mounted into the wall of this salon.

What I found that was the biggest obstacle was most newer fridges are taller and skinnier than the older models. So you need to clearance the top and factor in how to trim up the sides to make it look like a clean factory install.

Yep i used 1 1/4 bull nose oak to trim mine in.

ya I installed myself the only thing I had to do was put a 5/8 piece of wood on the bottom to raise it up. Other then that its a pita to get the old one out. I did it myself in about 2 hours. looks great I went with the black front.

What size are you looking to buy anyway?

I may end up just replacing the compressor as the box is okay. I really don't want the hassle of removing cabinets, etc.

I replaced the compressor assembly on my previous 410DA. I didn't want the hassle of removing the old fridge and then having to trim out the new fridge. Also, the woodgrain panels off the Norcold won't fit in the doors of new fridge/freezer.

If you decide to go with the full replacement, remember to make sure you have an "adequate" first aid kit on board. It is one of the most dangerous DIY projects on board and you could easily lose a finger, arm or other appendage.

The cabinet comes out fairly easy. I'm sure your half handy it really isn't bad. Plus the vitro is a lot bigger and has a light HOOTHOOT

Hmm... Losing a finger sounds like a crappy way to start the season! I think if it ends up just being the compressor then I will keep original fridge. Cheaper and easier all around.

When you replaced the compressor, did it run quieter than your original one?
