What's your gig?

Worked 12 years for Ford Motor Company. Took the buyout and started a business. Had my business for 11 years. Sold it to my local competitor. Never had to work after that. Now I’m retired at 45.. Im a dad, husband and boat captain. Momma brings home the bacon. Life doesn’t suck.

I tried starting a business; couldn’t seem to attract any employees. Musta been a bad business model.

I have a friend that operates 2 taco stands. On a good day he can make $15,000. All cash.
Wifes friend and her ex-husband ran a peanut stand with flavored peanuts. He was making about $250,000/year. He still does it but they are divorced now

I'm in the DevSecOps group at my agency but that's misleading...lol. And oddly my title was Sr Systems Engineer and I got 'promoted' to Sr Cyber Analyst. Title sounds like a downgrade but got a raise with it so...lol.
But I have an A.A.S. in Computer Forensics with a B.S. in Information Technology. Mainly ran a mix of Linux and Windows servers at a smaller company for awhile, as well as general helpdesk stuff for about 50 employees. Now I work with the 2nd largest IT dept in the country. My team of 15 oversees the security of about 20,000 servers but we have help from the FTE's also. But as the lead I don't do as much hands-on anymore. But gotta say this is the best job I have ever had and the best group of teammates I have ever worked with.

Ok. But what is your fantasy job?
Not so much fantasy job, but, once I'm retired, I'm considering volunteering as an aircraft mechanic at our local Warhawk Museum. There's just something about a Rolls Royce V12 at full song...

Interesting thread. Seems like a lot of us IT nerds in here

I’ve noticed on other hobby forums of mine it attracts a similar group of people also with similar jobs - home brewing, photography, cars, RC stuff.
