Does this really look like the engines are new?

yes...........it just doesn't say what year the engines were replaced.......or if it possibly sank afterwards as well

Well it really depends on what you think is new. If your selling a boat, long blocks are "new engines", if your buying a boat, I want to see "new" engines.
It's really fraud in my opinion, and should be punished. But I guess there are bigger fish to fry these days.

I can't believe a person would take a picture, and post it with a engine room looking like that. Specially a Sea Ray. My engine room isn't sparkling, but dang. I could get away with saying my engines were new better than this guy!!!

Well, I would trust but verify. Ask the owner, if they are short blocks, which would explain some of the look. I'd also ask WHEN they were put in. Then, get the engines surveyed. Compression check, leak down if you can, check for codes.

Strike up a good conversation with owner. Ask why this and that, not accusing and putting him on defense. Get to the real story if you can. Maybe he already took delivery of the 44 and has neglected this boat a while. Who knows, but you'll never know without asking the owner and maybe, discretely dock neighbors if he has any. Just thoughts....

Remember, you can always walk away and be better off with the experience under your belt!

Good luck with it!

Be interesting to find out why engines with so few hours needed replacing.
Assume it is in fresh water as there are no salt deposits on the mufflers and the areas at the risers that are rusted.
Is the area dusty all the time.

Looks like salt use to me. Especially the leaky riser. Nothing there appears "new" to me.

Looks as if maybe a water line popped off and sprayed the ER quite thoroughly and then was never cleaned up, salt water if I had to guess.
