I clean my boat almost every time I use it-just about every weekend, and can't seem to evict the spiders. The spiders love my boat! My dock neighbors have some, but not like mine. What can you do to get them to move on?

I fog ours every month or so with raid, depending on where it is. The dry storage area is worse than the marina for spiders. Close it all up, spray it 'till you can SEE the fog, and leave it closed up for 20 minutes. That'll kill anything that's hiding in the cracks and crevices. Then air it out really good. The smell will linger for a few days in the cuddy especially, but the bugs will all be dead. Then it's a matter of being vigilant with the "Raid" whenever you see the occasional new one. A film of Raid on the canvas and dock lines will discourage them from setting up home on the boat too. I spray our dock lines every few days and the crevices in the canvas every couple of weeks. (I've yet to ask the Sunbrella folks if this is a good idea or not) And we STILL get the occasional spider.

The spiders come for the bugs. Some methods have worked some better than others, eucalyptus leaves, cinnamon oil, peppermint, baking soda. They hate lemon. I use lemon pledge where ever I can. I've been told that their taste buds are on their feet therfore they won't cross certain things. I've also used black pepper for ants with great results. There are plenty of sprays out there but the natural things tend to work best and smell a whole lot better. The oils you can mix with water and put in a spray bottle. Good luck

Bella, as you boat near by...I'm gonna try some of the peppermint oil tomorrow...mine is crawling with spiders since she can't move

I like the Lemon oil idea. I'll give the dryer sheets a try, too. If I can figure out where to put them. I wouldn't use Raid, as it could get into our lake if sprayed on the lines and canvas. Tanx!

Amen to that. Reduce the bugs and the spiders dont come. Does your slip have more nightime light on it? I never leave anything more than a string of Christmas lights on in my boathouse for very long, and I have alot less spiders than my neighbor who leaves his flourescents on for hours.

About once a week, at dusk, I walk around with a can of aerosol spider spray from Home Depot and drop them suckers.

Speaking of spiders ...

My niece usually asks me to check the tube for spiders before she rides. I tell her "dont need to check, there are definitely some in there." Now get in.

Marinas and spiders and boats just seem to go together. I use a product called "Home Defense". It comes in a 1-gallon container with the sprayer attached. I spray the docks, dock lines, around the dock cleats, along the sides of the boat where the walkway is, and every place where a spider's nest pops up. I try to do this about once a month and that seems to keep the spiders away.

Oh no, ask Scooter Wayne about his bug bomb story......

Pest control guy told me tey are hard to control because they do not lick their legs like oter bugs. Unless they eat the poison it will not kill them so the fog sounds like a good idea

Yeh, the bug guy told us that they breath through their bodies and the fog is absorbed into them and kills them that way,,,,,, the spiders,,,, not the bug guys.
