Don't know. I have the same engine (older version) and haven't seen anything that looks like that! where do the wires that run to it come from? where do the wires that leave it, go to?

Is that the "panic button"?

It's your solenoid(slave) for the starter

In the first picture you have a couple of things - one is the circuit breaker (red button) which protects the power from the battery to the starter solenoid and the alternator. The other item is the slave solenoid which directs all of the power to the starter when the key is turned on.

One day you will go to start your engine, and it will be dead. No click, no starter. Open the hatch, and tap on the solenoid. If it starts, make a plan to replace the solenoid. It will get worse over time.
