What's this? A 650 Fly possibly? A spotting of an elusive vessel!

Mark...it was so way cool to have you pull up next to me while docking in Annapolis...truly overjoyed to hear my name from across the bay!

Shaun, you will always have my support and appreciation for how you and Heather treat me whenever we are able to get together. Glad I was able to obtain you some assistance on your needed glass work. I am fortunate to have the friends I do in the industry, and it has come to pass that I can share those alliances with you and the Laguna.

The rest of you...I carry myself in a manner that I feel you deserve as Sea Ray boat owners, and by allowing me to be in your loop. I am a factory employee that has a passion for the product I am fortunate to have worked for these past 30 years…that does not make me a deity of anything, just a guy wanting to help. And believe me there are many more just like me at the factory where this beautiful vessel came into creation.

If you own, or are thinking of owning a Sea Ray boat, I am at your service…what kind of boat do you have? I have not met you SSII but have been lucky enough to do so with many on this site…I will not make any personal remarks other than to stand behind or beside my friends in any confrontation…you are bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Thanks men, thank you very much !!! There is much more to come from the costal tour of the 650FLY and I do promise I will do much better in reporting to you, real soon.

Capt. R

Rusty...

you are a fabulous ambassador for the Sea Ray product. People who believe in a product like you do, as an "employee", are few and far between. I honestly believe the correct word to describe you and your representation for Sea Ray is PASSION.

When you have passion for anything, you stand out. That's not a bad thing, it's a compliment to you as a boating Captain and human being. Please don't let the kind words put forth here, on CSR, make you feel anything but flattered. All of us who have met you, all of us who have read your posts and all of us who've had the pleasure of your assistance with anything Sea Ray truly write our sentiments out of friendship and commaraderie.

Keep on with your voyage...we've got your back!

Mark

ps...have a scotch!

Good morning Capt. R,

I think you were on FL west coast awhile ago with this beautiful cruiser and we missed it. Don‘t suppose you have any plans to come around again do you?

coming up to eat more dirty water hot dogs?

Rusty
How long you gonna be in Brick? Working for a living but will be down there on Friday. You'll probably be gone by then.

Rusty do your plans include NY? In case I missed a post somewhere?

I just read the BoatTEST review on the 650 Fly. This quote from the reviewing captain was pretty funny. I could almost see Rusty talking to him when I read it.

"Handling

Upon arrival to the test boat, Sea Ray’s delivery captain was quick to tell us of the virtues of the L650 and how it “was the best boat he’s been on”…. blah blah blah. Sorry, Captain, but we’ve heard that song before and we’ll make our own determination, thank you.

But the thing is, as it turns out, he was speaking the truth. This is among the best handling boats we’ve tested in class. It had a solid feel, but also had a marked measure of "sprightly" responsiveness. It handled sea conditions well too, cutting through waves instead of launching over them. She did throw water but all boats do, so no points taken away. But as good as she was handling for us she had more to give.

As it turns out, Sea Ray equips this boat with a pair of SeaKeeper gyro-stabilizers as standard equipment. Since they’re on every L650, we saw no need to leave them turned off. Once on, the already stable ride became even more so. That’s when we were convinced that their captain knew what he was talking about and it’s also when we agreed with his assessment. Any prospective customers need only to take a test ride to be convinced that this is the boat for them."

Ken-
I thought the same thing when reading that review. I could just see Rusty bending the reviewer's ear with his trademark Sea Ray passion.
Rusty Rules!

Thanks guys....he didn't believe me so I had to show him.

I am tied up at Chelsea Pier in Manhattan as I write this. Will be here for the most part of tomorrow before heading out to Long Island. Really enjoyed my ride through the C&D Canal and stayed the night in Chesapeake City...that place goes off at night, wow! Left early in the morning to avoid the currents of Delaware Bay and found it to be glass smooth with an outgoing current that allowed me to set the throttles at 79% load and cruising at 31.5 knots. Love these CAT C18's.

Had a super visit and light dinner snacks with Converse 48 on Ego Ally in Annapolis, (I would call him Tim but it is Lisa that does it for me, lol) and was honored to have my own daughter come and visit for Father's Day. Good friends and family..After being on this boat for over a month, that was the absolute best for me...I owe ya Tim!

This is the R&D model of the 650FLY and if it is the fore-front of what is to come, we are all going to be bragging extra hard of the brand we ride. Without saying we ever went away (when the economy certainly hit us all hard) I will say, Sea Ray is back with strong product and shows signs of making the competition nervous, real nervous...I know, I am driving it right now!!!

Thanks Ken for sharing Boattest.com's report, that speaks volumes from an unbiased source and yes, Capt. Steve now knows who Capt. Rusty is, verbally and personally.

I will be at Marinemax Huntington this weekend before departing for Boston. Yo, Turtle I am in your backyard (if Manhattan’ers have backyards?)

Joe, if you cannot see me now, I will be at Liberty Landing for the 4th brother and will jump off the dock to see you if no slips are open.

Capt. R

Don't jump like Gary...

Rusty, whatever are you taking about???
Great to see you as well. And you have great family too. No surprise there!
Safe travels, and thanks for investigating my windshield issue for me. You improve my boating every time our paths cross. But sorry I ran out of real beer (let the record shoe that Captain was off the clock).

Who cares, fridge is full. I wonder where rusty is...

He rubbed it way too much it seems.

I ate everything in the fridge, took a nap, then realized I was on the wrong boat.

Here it is.
