what's the world coming to?

Funny I'm from Texas and we're supposedly the bigoted southerners according to most northerners Couldn't tell it from the comments here. Most if not all are from up north.
 
Well if you did read it's not about gay or straight it's about tax payers having to foot the bill and I for one being x law enforcement don't believe the reassignment surgery should be paid for by tax payers it's a choice by an individual to get reassignment surgery they should have to have the burden to pay for it I have friends also that are gay and if the made the choice they wouldn't expect anyone to pay for it but them so your comments as harsh as they were really were missing the point yes some comments were a bit out there but every one has their own opinion on the subject so telling some one to keep their mouth shut was way off just my $.02
 
I didn't say all...I said a lot of them, and there was DEFINITELY at least a tone in those...if not just blatantly being obvious in others. ie. "all sorts of unspeakables going on", "sick person", "he/she", let her bleed to death...oh well, "why calling him a her....HaHaHa".... That type of stuff. The original post was innocuous. I was also just posting my opinion on the topic, and felt the need to stand up when the topic turned away from taxes, crime, and criminals with cable tv, and to jokes at another groups expense.

First let me begin by saying that I am more aware of the issues faced by the transgender community than you assume. I married a woman who left me for a woman/transgendered man. I trusted my wife and she lied to me and was increasingly unstable. I am willing to share this shameful and hurtful personal information with you because you seem to think you have it all figured out. Everybody deserves freedom to choose their preference and I don't hold it against them for that. Having said that I have every reason to feel hatred toward lesbians or transexuals but I don't. Many are just broken people who are victoms of abuse with serious mental problems. When you commit crimes and go to prison you are not supposed to be rewarded with the indulgence of your perverted sexual pleasures on the taxpayers dime. You want hormones and a sex change then pay for it yourself. That's what I mean by what is the world coming to. Using your logic on the treatment of this condition maybe we could treat depression with a revolver.

As far as people going to jail to get social services, it happens all the time. They will commit a petty crime to get three hots and a cot rather than live on the street. Maybe you don't have that problem in TX but I doubt it.

So when you object to someones opinion you consider them uneducated and stupid? You are so easily offended that you have to tell others to keep their mouth shut? You learned about this topic on tv? You have gay friends? I have black friends, does that mean I'm not a racist? My business partner is openly gay, do I hate him?

This topic is so taboo and weird, how do you expect other people to react. Maybe we should start a fund to pay for this criminals sex change. Are you going to contribute? If you don't you are turning your back on this poor transgendered criminal

As I said...I do NOT agree with my money going to criminals for even air conditioning as far as I'm concerned. Our ancestors lived, even in the south, without it so can they. It was the negative turn in the conversation where it was more about the "he/she" issue and less about the criminal issue. I question the comment on the "perverse sexual"...kinda what I'm talking about. And I never told anyone to shut up.
 
Keep ur mouth shut pretty much translates to shut up. Even though you have a negative connotation of the word "perverse" or "sexual" I used those terms in proper context.

Here we go, another newbie gun slinging with no sense for the essence of the topic. Telling folks they sound stupid, uneducated and illogical with no validation of your own credentials in the matter other than you know someone that is gay. Seriously, you know someone???

We are best friends, and his 10+ gay friends are my friends too. Many a conversation I've had...and guess what none of them were abused...most came from the same christian college my brother went. Literally 95% of them came from homes with both parents...no divorce. I'm offended and offended for them with the use of the term perverted and mentally ill, and yes this is why I spoke up to begin with. Hopefully more people will speak up about the blatant prejudice. Get to know ur gays then, and talk to more than one. If they're mental about something..it's from people like u calling them perverted and mentally ill. And yes I see u said most not all, but u might as well have.

I said I had no issues with the topic and agreed with the premise of the original post. Do i need to use smaller words i know innocuous is a big word. ;) It was the topic change towards negative comments of a minority that got me to speak up.

I'm not bothered by what folks do in their own bedroom on their own time and dime. I'm not sure if the gov't pays for Viagra, or not, but I don't think they should. So, if I don't believe the taxpayer should pay for Viagra, my stance on gender reassignment is obvious.

I remember the story of the tennis player in the 1970's that was a leader in gender reassignment. He and his sponsors, if any, undertook an optional and expensive procedure. He had the means like a lot of folks do to cater to their bodies in the way Michael Jackson did. Most folks don't have this kind of money, and have to live with the dice roll that their DNA gave them.

Do I believe that folks are going to line up in droves for prison and gender reassignment? No. The person in the story may well be a bit off their rocker - who really knows. And may also be enjoying a semi erotic adventure while tweaking prison officials, the press and the public and creating their own form of exhibitionism. People do all sorts of crazy things for attention, usually to their personal long term detriment.

I'm not sure that a belief in accepting yourself as you are makes a person a bigot. If my tax dollars are going to something cosmetic, burn victims, children with birth defects, etc. should come first in line before a person blessed with a normal healthy body gets the ultimate in cosmetic changes.
 
First of all I'm not a liar and secondly I was refering to transgenders when I said abused and or mentally ill. You can spin my position all you want but you never walked in my shoes. Your definition of perverted is right on. Deviating from what is considered right proper moral or good but you left out normal. I had a wife who was abused by her father and she has mental illness because of it. Wouldn't you? After everything blew up it took 3 years before she realized how she was affecting our daughter. She learned her lesson when after dumping the tranny Julia she met a full on man hating lesbian who told my daughter horrible things about me such as I would leave and not come back, I didn't love her, I hurt her mommy etc. But again you seem to have everything figured out. You simplify a dynamic situation to the point it falls in line with your opinion. Congratulations on your brother being gay, does this make you an expert on the subject? Most truley gay men I know are laid back about it and don't make it into an issue. The loud vocal types who are always lashing out in the name of gay rights are often the ones who have mental problems from abuse and neglect. What kind of world do you think we live in? Every day children are molested by pedophiles who are not gay but the victoms grow up confused about their sexuality and sometimes adopt a gay lifestyle. Sometimes people are born gay. Those are the real gays. Sometimes people just need a cause those are the poser gays. I don't care what people do in their personal life but I do care when it affects me. Content character and conduct is how I view people. How about you? Are you looking for a cause? You are offended for someone else on their behalf? I doubt if something had happened to one of your gay brothers friends he would share it with you. I have known my business partner for 27 years. We get along fine and have no problems. You would be surprised!! The taxpayers foot the bill for quite a few things that I feel they should not. BTW, This jail is in Texas and one of the larger.
 
Well I can tell you when I was in law enforcement we would pick up the same people from time to time in the winter for petty crimes they would get 90 or 120 days so they could get 3 hots and a cot for the winter I understand that they were homeless but they knew how to use the system so long as the crimes were not felonys the didn't fall into the 3 stroke rule so I can say I never picked up any one saying they wanted to go to jail for dental work or health care since they get the health care any at the clinics any way so there are alot of people using the system and I can tell you most of them could get out of the gutter if they had the ambition gay or straight so the tax payers get taken weather you like it or not the rest of the thread is getting way off point any way the op was just talking about the state paying for a surgery the negative connotations in some of the posts were peoples opinions which like a$$ holes everyone has one my $.02

Thanks for your reply. As for the newbie comment, you only need to search the site to see that many newbies have come in here swinging with no appreciation of members who understand each other and what we are actually trying to say. I know you have been registered since 2009 but your 40 some posts since speaks volume of your loyalty and passion for this site.

I can use large words to but I'm not trying to impress anyone.
BTW who said that the gay life style was socially acceptable? You? Who said it was morally acceptable? Just because a group gets together and deems their action whether sexual or social is acceptable does not make it so.
Again please show what basis you have for deeming this as acceptable. Please don’t give me the same old cliché about the moral majority or religious activists. Please contribute real data to support the fact that the gay lifestyle is acceptable, socially beneficial and forwards the human condition.

Basic medical care is needed to prevent outbreaks, but there are ones who will get arrested just to have dental work done. And now sex change therapies. Also, there are armies of "Do gooders" out there with PhDs that produce reports on how we need to change the way the jail is and the way the inmates are treated. All in their favor. It is insane.
