So I was day dreaming today about good times and got to thinking about my dad. My first boat was a 12' pontoon boat that I used on a 3 acre pond. I could spend hours on the pond in the summer time scooting around with the 12v trolling motor. We only used it a few times together as he became ill shortly after we got the pontoon boat. Several years later I purchased my first Sea Ray. It was a 1982 245 Da that I used with my family quite a bit. I was able to get my mom on the boat finally after some persuasion.

So what was your first boat/Sea Ray?

My first boat was a 1979 15 1/2 ft. Crestliner bowrider. It had that beautiful burnt orange look of the late 70's. Both my wife and I were teachers at the time and we called her Teachers Pet. She had an 85 hp outboard. I had it for 10 years and never put a penny in it. I pay more for annual storage then I did for the boat. I miss her.

1979 26 foot Express bought new at the boat show for $19,000. Citrus hull.

My first boat was one I built while in high school. It was a Glen L design 10' runabout "Squirt" with an 18hp Evinrude. Had a ball with that little boat. It was basically the home built version of the GW Invader. First Sea Ray was a 1986 23' Weekender. It didn't take long to discover that my growing family was going to need the mid cabin of the Sundancer so I moved into a 1989 268 Sundancer. From there, into the boat I own today, a 1989 30' Sundancer which I love.

First boat wehad was a John boat built by my dad in the sheet metal shop around 1960 with anair cooled Clinton 3.5 HP. Had the boat for many years.

First ski boat we could learn behind was a woodie with a Merc 450 (45 HP).Being an old used wooden boat when my dad bought it which needed some work offto the sheet metal shop for the winter overhaul. Came out next summer at thelake with a bright new shiny aluminum top side deck since the old wood neededre-doing.

Great lookingtop side but had two minor problems learned the hard way that summer. Seemedlike we had a little problem going all the way around the lake. When you headedback towards the cabin in the afternoon you had to hold your free hand out totry and block the sun shine glare off the boat since you couldn't hardly seefrom the reflection off the aluminum topside. Second problem was you couldn'ttouch the topside as it would burn your hand from getting so hot from the sunshine. Before the summer of 1963 was over though we got rid of the boat the oldfashion way. A tornado touched down that summer and what was left of the boatthat you could recognize was some of the Merc 450 engine up in the trees abouta half mile from the lake.

The next boat we acquired that winter was a 14' Crestlliner with an old Red 30HP Johnson outboard on her. Didn't have a key start as at that time they hadalready like some of the newer cars decided keys were a pain in the a-- so theyhad a red push button on the dash to choke the motor and another one to startthe motor. Don't recall how you stopped the engine as to many years have passedsince then.

My first and only Sea Ray so far is Gimme Time as seen in the picture.Certainly hope if/when we move to another boat the next owners have as much funon her as the wife and I have had so far.

The first one (not counting parents boats) was a 15' 1975 Larson All American with a 50 Evinrude. 1978 was a good year, got a new
wife, F-250, and the boat. Life was good.

My first boat was a 9' home built rowboat. My first REAL boat was a 1990 Reinell 20' open bow. I had it for 11 years and sold it to buy my first Sea Ray, a 1996 330 Sundancer.

The admiral and I got our first boat (and first Sea Ray) a few years ago, in 2008. It was a brand new, pewter-hulled, 2007 Sea Ray 210 Select. We loved it but later decided we wanted to be able to stay out overnight onboard.

Earlier this year, we bought a used, pewter-hulled, 2008 Sea Ray 290 Sundancer. We love it just as much as the bowrider.

The memories we are making will live with us (and hopefully our kids) for the rest of our lives.

1966 17ft Crownline with a 65hp Merc (parents then mine in 1983). Sold it in 1990. Bought the CV-23 in 1999 and then the 1990 270DA in 2010, Mike.

My first boat was a 1983 14' Sylvan, with a 1972 6hp evinrude I borrowed from my dad.

My first Sea Ray was a 2000 240 Sundancer.

My first was a 8' Sun Dolphin 2 man with a MinnKota 65 for power. used it so much that I wore holes in the front of the sponsons dragging it up and down the banks.
My first Sea Ray is my current 78 SRV240WE....it has a little more room to wander than the old Sun Dolphin.

Orange Sport Yak with a sail kit.... I was 12... and stupid.

That is exactly the first boat my Dad bought for me around the same age too. Followed by:

10' 4" Hutchinson Nautisport with a 5HP Elgin
12' Sears fiberglass fishing boat with a 7.5HP
2002 Sea Ray 320DA 2K WINGIN' IT
2003 Sea Ray 410DA PLAN B

Parent's boats were as follows:

17' Dorsett cuddy cabin
24' Owens 1950 something
31' Chris Craft 1959 I believe

My first boat was a 7ft dinghy that my grandfather found floating in the bay.It was all torn up so he decided to rebuild it for me as he was a boat builder for the coast guard here in MD and he was very good with his hands. I was able to name it and the name was Popeye.
I was allowed to put our three horsepower Johnson on the back as long as I paid for the gas.At 7 years old my first job was catching soft crabs and selling them to my grandmother. She gave me top dollar for them and this kept that 2.5 gallon can filled all summer.
Most of my family has been gone for many years now but this memory will always stay with me.

Our first Sea Ray is our 450DA.

My first boat was a 1969 Sea King (Tri-hull) with a 45 HP Johnson. I was living with mom and dad and we had just moved to Florida (from Ill.) They said I couldn;t have a boat as long as i was living with them so you know what I did! I went out and bought the boat and found a place to keep it. All of a sudden my dad kept asking me to take there friends from out of town out for a spin.

My first Sea Ray was the 280da which I bought last year.

Oh yea, BTW, this is my 1,000th post!

That was my first boat, a 1987 27' Italian center console with twin 130HP diesel Volvo duoprop:
