Hi All ya all,

I have a 89 440... love this boat! There are graphics and cosmetic fiberglass panels on each side of the boat that I want/need to paint. Does anyone have any idea what color this was originally or what modern type of paint might work the best? It is a slightly metallic looking charcoal gray....

Hello! I cannot answer your questions, but I wanted to comment on your beautiful boat!

Awesome! It's a beauty!

I think it is a single stage automotive acrylic enamel.

i had a 390EC with painted inserts on the arch that eventually faded to the point of embarrassment. I got an Interlux top coat product and had poor results with it……lots of fish eyes and lifting. I sanded it all to bare gelcoat and repainted the colored portion with a PPG 2 part acrylic enamel and it lasted much better than the factory finish.

One thing I an sure of is that trying to match that color or do spot repairs isn't going to work because the OEM paint fades like crazy.

Well thank you very much! I am quite proud of it! The interior is in fantastic shape and it runs out like a dream! Now if I could just figure out how to get my husband to want to fish more and golf less!!!

Try Imron paint from ppg,i think they will be able to match that color and it will last a long time.
