What tablet do you use on the boat for navigation?

Yeah, I meant whatever app you used to post the auto-routing pic in post #90.

Not sure I see much benefit to auto-routing anyway, for that matter. At least for us. Especially if you have to help it along.

I guess I am my own auto-router. :)

Yep that was Navionics, big benefit for arm chair routing and planning things out. Past that not much at all, at least for me. But I do use it a lot for checking out inlets and marina's etc. some wintertime boating from the recliner of sorts.

And this is why I want to use it, to plan. Having never done the trip I am taking I want to get an idea on time, miles, how much fuel I will need, and in general "where will I be on the water". Once underway, on the water, I doubt I will even look at it, the paper chart will be my best friend then.

Got it. I use TimeZero for most planning. Occasionally Aqua Map, if I'm not actually near the computer or the build-in MFDs.

Thought you said you have a working plotter installed on the boat?

I do, no manual on the boat, can't find one online. I will use it though. I am quickly running out of time to learn how to use it as well before I need to move the boat.

Check your BOAT settings. The draft defaults to like 33 meters or something. It wont auto route because it doesnt think you have enough water.

This is what I’m talking about by breaking it into sections,
This trip has 2 rivers you navigate with several turns and caution areas. I start at pink circle and go to point no.1 and so on. It breaks it into sections and then routes the sections showing distance between sections and total distance. I like this because it gives me an Idea of where I would need to route to take on gasoline. My iPad would not route this whole trip as 1 auto route from start to finish.
Here’s one that I can’t get to autoroute. Boat depth is set to 3’.

It will get to waypoint 11 and stop.

What model is it? Maybe somebody here can get you a manual, or at least point you to a source... (unless you've already tried that...)

Yep I tried that yesterday as well when I was trying to get it working, no luck. I posted a help link above if folks want to click on it, tells you some things to try.

Man this all sounds complicated. I love my Furuno TZT's, just build/modify my routes at home using the TZ iboat app on iPad or iPhone and they sync to the cloud. Then put the MFD's online at the marina and all routes and changes update automatically. I can move a point on my phone and watch the MFD update within a few seconds.

If I remember correctly and it's similar to the e127, the manual comes with the Lighthouse II software update. The manual is not just for the equipment but the version of LH II.

Navionics essentially does this as well.
My only desires are to allow autorouting of the entire track and be able to name routes. But once I connect my ipad or iPhone to my mfd then the route is there as well.

Problem solved, you must take every trip I do, so I can follow you. :)

Thanks, I have contacted Raymarine, no reply yet. I am sure I can figure out the basic stuff on my own, not enough time on the boat yet to do so though.

I contacted NAVIONICs help. Quick reply. They said they were able to use Automatic Route on their end doing what I did. They suggested to make sure you are tapping on the water, not land, if you are using tap at each point. I was using water so the issue persists.

@mrsrobinson Here is the installation and operators manual. Look on pg 16 of the installation manual and it states the user manual is available from the home screen on the MFD. You can also buy a printed version from their UK site.

Go to the very bottom of the Raymarine Home Screen. Look for aSeries Legacy MFD (click). Then look for the Software(ATOM) tab (click). Then scroll to Download Latest Version Now (for firmware upgrade) (click). Or just download the manual.

This looks to be it, thanks.

Now the dumb "I have not used a modern chart plotter, and really any chart plotter for that matter, in about 10 years"...I am pulling down a firmware update, I assume to my laptop. How do I then upload this to the Chart Plotter? BTW, I see they are using Open Source, interesting.
