I am looking to add a sub to my 1997 270 Sundancer. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also I am going to need an amp.

Polk Audio marine rated is what I just installed. Check on Amazon.

JL or Rockford for good bass, Sealed box for tighter bass and ported box for a boomier sound. Both make good noise, I recommend either of those are good and efficient. Efficient comes into play on a boat because of battery life. So think of it as MPG on a car. Any questions just ask me.

I installed all JL Audio products. I went with Class D amps because they are supposed to be much more efficient than Class AB, plus they are supposed to run much cooler due to this efficiency. This was important to me because I was mounting the amps in my aft starboard hanging locker. There has been arguments on the forum that Class AB presents better sound quality but, since this is a boat cockpit & not a recording studio I opted for energy efficiency.
Of course, I found this out after I had purchased a few Class AB amps! Haha

Definitely JL Audio 10"

You can get them at Crutchfield for $299.

I swear this site is gonna suck the food off my kids table! Ah the heck with them, let them fend for themselves I gotta go boating and they can fish LOL!!

Thanks for the info. I have been looking and just not sure what to get.

My past boat I had dual 8" Polk audio subs and this boat a 12" Polk audio sub and it is phenomenal. And the are not expensive. I highly recommend. A couple of audiophile friends were very impressed. Check crutchfield.
