I need a new cleaner for my inground pool. Looking at the Kreepy Krauly from Pentair and others. If you have one you like please let me know what it is?

LOL, The pool boy :) except we don't really have one our pool has a self cleaning system.

We had a Polaris 180 for years, but I've grown weary of booster pump bearing failure due to the sealing method Polaris uses in their pumps. The 180 has also become a maintenance issue as it has aged……..wheels, wheel bearings, hoses, etc. Our pool is on salt instead of chlorine and that probably hastens the bearing failure when the seal begins to seep.

We recently changed to a Polaris 9550 robotic cleaner. It does a much better job but we are still learning to deal with the power cable, which is the only criticism so far. The robotic cleaner seems to always turn in the same direction which tends to twist the cord and that requires manually untwisting it periodically.

Hope that helps………..

Hi Frank - Thanks for feedback. I had a 16 year old Pentair Letro Jet vac. Required a booster pump and ran off a return line. The new ones do not need the use of the booster pump (Which I like) but still use the bag method. I kind of like the idea of having one that just plugs into my return skimmer and uses the pools filtration system....
