What outdrive do I have? *pic*

Some of the decals are missing so I am not sure what model outdrive I have. Can you tell by the S/N? Can you tell by looking at the picture?

Well, I am not 100% sure - I don't believe it is original to the boat. Any way to tell?

Looks like one of the last "pre-alpha" units 1982ish or a Gen. 1 Alpha Drive. The lower unit of the Gen 2 models has an aft cant and the skeg is squared off a bit more. Also, Gen. 2 Alphas with power steering do not have the "tabbed" anode.

Call Merc. w/the s/n and see.

The aft cant is located along the trailing edge of the lower unit between the gear case torpedo and anti-ventilation plate.

Looking at that drive, you have an alpha 1, gen 1. The entire thing *looks* matched, if you suspect, it could be the whole engine / drive was changed.
