what kind of freon

I have a 2002 320 with a 12k unit and cant find any freon information anywhere. Does anyone know what it takes?

If it is the original unit.....it is R-22 which gets more expensive every year. Additionally, you need an EPA license to buy it and use it.

The type should be stated on the unit and the amount

He's going to have to find your leak, empty the system, then refill with proper amount. At that point I would think he could fill it with a more modern substitute
