OK......why this thread? (BTW, I did a search to see if a thread like this already existed and didn't find one.....if I missed it, maybe a Mod can just move this post into that thread.)

I just finished reading the AWESOME thread about "What we do for a living" and it made for some FANTASTIC reading and insight into the lives of our members.

You guys, each and every one of you (ok, ok, some more than others, LOL!) have very interesting, some amazing, professions!

I can no longer define myself by my profession (not saying that doing so is a bad thing.....what's wrong with saying "I'm a butcher", or "I'm a baker, or, "I'm a Black Ops" soldier?), so I have to define myself by my children, because what I am now, primarily, is a Dad.

Four GREAT kids......

34 year old daughter who was sponsored by Gibson Guitars to sing with her band at the Great Wall Of China, now she is back home, doing some singing and acting on the side, and running our real estate business on the East Coast that I had to retire from for health reasons. It keeps her VERY busy but she misses LA terribly.

29 year old son who made his first million (I don't know for certain if I EVER made my first million! LOL!) at age 26 as VP of an internet marketing firm and is now head of his own real estate investment firm, and runs a "bunch" of residential rental properties.

27 year old son who is a prosecutor for a nearby county. Putting people in jail is a passion for him!

and finally,

One day, 18 years ago, long after I had changed my last diaper (or so I thought) the wife says "Sit down honey, I have something to tell you......" (she was 38 at the time, I was mid 40's, no plans for any additions to the family).......

I said "No, come on....that's NOT funny now.....cut it out!" as I laughed and laughed ( a little more nervously each moment she continued to just stare back at me.....

"I'm NOT joking sweetie"........

That was the last thing I remember before waking up.......apparently I hit my head on the kitchen counter on the way down........

ANYWAY......my "little guy" is now 6 feet 7 inches tall and 260 lbs, a senior in High School and close to his black belt in Karate, plays guitar "ok" and piano much better but not an expert (despite 10 years of lessons.....you can force them to take lessons and force them to practice but you can't force them to have a passion for something if they don't feel it).......

BUT.....he has been awarded a full ride at a University where he will start early in the upcoming Summer Session in their well thought of Engineering Program, and he has been what kept me from growing old.....he kept me laughing and playing kid's games and going to Disney long after the other kids had tired of the stuff a little one enjoys. He has been a blessing I could have never imagined, so that "surprise" was maybe the most WONDERFUL surprise I have ever gotten!

I have no particular "favorite".....I DO feel like I "talk" to my oldest son more sometimes about a lot more things, and I DO feel "closer" to my daughter sometimes, because she will ALWAYS be my "little girl", and I DO feel more proud of my "middle son" sometimes when I look at his gold badge and think about how hard he worked to get it by age 27, and I do feel more "awe and wonder" sometimes when looking at my "little guy" and how smart and how funny and how sensitive he is, and I remember that if given a "choice" 18 years ago, he wouldn't have been here, and the world would not have been blessed with what a fantastic guy he already is and will be.

In the end do I love them all equally.....ok, let's be 100% honest, when one of them is pissing me off to the point of going crazy, maybe at the moment I don't! LOL! Otherwise, I'd like to believe I do!

I could go on and on and on "bragging" about the kids but that wasn't the intent of the thread, although there is nothing wrong with a little of that.....but the intent was more to talk about who we have brought into the world and what the world now enjoys as a result of that gift!

Let's hear it guys!!! Tell us about YOUR family! And if your kids are your two Pomeranians, or hairless cats, that's ok too! Let's hear about them!

I have a wonderful wife and twin 13 year olds.... boy and girl. We spend a lot of time focused on the kids and their activities! But, come Memorial Day it all comes to a grinding halt!!! It's boating time for this family!! We basically head down to LBI each Thurs/Fri and live aboard or head out for adventure on the high seas for the weekends!

Opposite end of the spectrum for us. We have two boys, 6 and almost 2. Both have been in the boat since infants. The older starting at two months old (born in February) and the younger since he was 10 days old.

Like Brewster, we are focused on their activities all winter, but come late May out priority changes to the boat and time spent with friends and family there. We try to go every weekend as well as spending 10-14 days around the 4th of July.

Luckily our six year old hasn't shown any real interest in summer sports and has been focusing on hockey for the last year. Next year he would like to try lacrosse and I am all for it.

We treat our boat as our summer home and only take a vacation to the "beach" every third year.

We have dual parent single child life. So as you can imagine with the in-laws and us, she's spoiled and showered with affection. She's a loving daughter who is doing great in school and is very active in sports. My wife and I are truly blessed.

Summer (all 3 months of it) is boat and cabin time for us. As mentioned in a previous thread, she is taking an interest in the operation of the boat.

I have a Wife, son 25 years old and recently engaged, he is an Auto mechanic. For fun he races Moto-X, rides mountain bikes, has played Ice Hockey since 10, has a big Diesel Ram, shoots guns, and snow boards too. I believe he is living the dream. Oh and his Fiance is now in her residency year to be a Dr of Audiology. My daughter, 23, is a graduate of local University with a degree in Exercise Science. While taking a year off school before attempting Occupational Therapist Graduate school, she has accepted a position with Under Armour in Corporate Office in a department responsible for opening global stores. OT school may be back burnered while she figures it out. So far she loves UA.

Like Zorba, when my kids were young they did not gravitate towards any summer sports. Ice Hockey was it! Thank god..

The only reason I'm able to be on this site (or my DA, really), is that my family consists of me and my wife of 11 years. In fact a name we were kicking around for our first boat was "The Kids"

Wife, and 2 boys (3yrs and 1yr). We are a family of boating, scuba diving, and mild adventure.

No kids that Im aware of. No wife, no gf (and no, despite what my aunt asked one year at christmas because I never bring gfs - no bfs, either)

Spend more than half the year living in hotels for work, not much time to have a relationship and Im too selfish with my time home doing my thing. Im still young-ish (31) so not too concerned.

well i have 2 older step-sons, 28 and 26. the oldest is married with a 2 year old daughter (who keeps me very busy but i enjoy it!) and he is a police officer in the largest city in our county. he is a member of the CERT team (similar to SWAT). the 26 year old works in a manufacturing plant making vinyl extruded boards and he races moto-x for fun, and i have a 23 year old son (his b-day is actually today) and a 21 year old daughter. my son will graduate from college this weekend with a B.S. in Safety Management and my daughter graduated last May with a B.A. in Communications (at 20 years old). she is the first person in the history of Westminster College to ever graduate from the honors program in only 6 semesters (and the school has been around for over 150 years). she works for a nationally known insurance company selling insurance and is the #1 ranked sales associate in the country for them. my son raced karts and was doing very well until we couldn't compete financially with the big boys (who were spending about $25-50k a year on racing). he has raced against few NASCAR drivers and a couple of Indy car drivers. we got to be pretty good friends with a few of them and pitted with them when we raced nationals. my son and daughter both have their black belts and all 4 did mixed martial arts for a few years.

so thats it in a nutshell. glad my kids are doing better than i was at their age. my daughter already makes more than i do already

1.
a man who has never made the same mistake once.

Think wisely…
Once upon a time a man asked a beautiful woman “Will you marry me?” The woman said, "No". And the man prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and had sex with cute skinny girls and hunted and raced cars and went to naked bars and dated women half his age and drank beer, Jack Daniel´s and Captain Morgan and drank the milk from the box and never heared bitching and went to rock concerts and kept his appartment and his favourite jeans and never got cheated on while working and his family and his friends thought he was cool as hell and had tons of money & left the toilet seat up. THE END.

Three for me and on the younger end. 9 year old son and boy/girl twins that just turned 7. Summer for us as well is boating and family. My 9 year old is a very good baseball player and we turn down invitations to play on all-star teams. I’m not sitting on an aluminum bleacher all summer. So come middle of June, no sports. Twins play soccer, boy good, and girl, well she tries.

Winter time is alpine ski racing…all very good but twins are more aggressive and will probably turn out to be better racers as they get older. But what makes us the proudest, they are all great students and even better kids. They have manners and pretty well behaved for kids.

Oh yeah, they also all love the boat!!!

You just described me perfectly. Except the women half my age. But hey, 21-24 is a good age to date in.

Im outside of boston for work this week and my brother in law happens to be in the same area for work so every night we've been going out for beers. Then he sees the hot bartender come give me a hug last night. And stares at me. Then I tell him that shes about to get off and her and I are going out for more beers. And then my sister calls and says the cars dead and she doesnt know how to jump it. And then he goes back to his hotel room to cry, while I head out with said bartender.

True story from last night.

Tina and I have been married almost 9 years. We each have some kids, BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT OUR GRAND KIDS.

I have 2. Both girls, ages 6 and 2. Both live within about 5 miles but we still never get to see them enough.
My Galley Wench 3 grandsons, 6 and 3 that live very close to us and a 3 year old who lives in Seattle. We also have a grand daughter coming on her side this month. Woooo Hooooooo!

Actually, we both consider all the grand kids to be OURS, not his or hers.

GW has 3 kids, all in their 30's, a son and his wife live near us and are the parents of two grand sons. He's a CPA and she's a high school teacher.
She also has a son who lives in Seattle and works for a social service agency and has a 3 year old son.
Then there's the daughter who is about to produce another crew member. She's an Occupational Therapist (graduated last year from the UW Medical School) and her hubby is a realtor with Sotheby's.

I have 3 kids, all in their 30's. The oldest is a financial advisor who lives in Seattle, not married and is like the bachelor that dpmulvey described.
My second oldest son lives about 30 miles from us, is married, no kids. He's a diesel tech who is in training to become the service dept manager for the local Mercedes Benz dealer. His wife is the bookkeeper for her parents who own a large farm/orchard/vineyard operation.
My daughter lives about 5 miles from us, is a stay at home mom, married to a restaurant manager. They have two daughters, 6 and 2.

I have all of the grandkids mind warped into believing I'm absolutely the greatest Grandpa who ever walked the planet. I like it that way!

I have a wife and two kids. We got married young by today's standards. I was 23 and fresh out of college and she was in between her junior and senior year of college. Our boys are now 9 and 11 and we have been married for 16 years next Friday.

Life is focused on the water and soccer at this point in time. Both of the boys are very gifted academically and athletically.

Hilarious!!!!

I have two boys 8 years old and 1 1/2 years old, married for 15 years this last March. This is our first season boating on a cruiser, and so far we are loving it. My oldest is a baseball player as well, and probably playing all stars this year. We have been out a couple of time already this year, and looking forward to this school year ending and getting out more. We did a weekend trip back in march and needless to say it was interesting with the 1 1/2 year old, and the wife didn't quite have a handle on the water conservation idea. They went trough a whole tank of fresh water is less than 24 hours..lol. Lessons learned and we are looking forward to some more weekend trips this year. Hopefully heading to Chattanooga sometime in June for a nice long weekend.

I have an Ex wife (Nurse)-who I'm on pretty good terms with.
